Tony ..... thankyou as a distant clarets fan and you will know I never post anything, but that was a great read. I can tell he has become a friend of yours and it is gutting this time has come and the circumstances its come about.
Hopefully we go onwards and upwards but I too was gutted to hear the news the other day, but I wish him well.

A good article Tony.
For me, SD projected a professionalism and got us approaching the business of football like a modern forward thinking club. How we came across went up a level because of him. His achievements brought a sense of pride and worth to our town.
Beating Bstrds, winning the championship, getting into Europe and some great goals and results along the way...what a ride.

Excellent that CT. Perhaps we’ll never know the reason why Pace decided to cut ties with what’s been an outstanding achievement by Sean Dyche. It just seems so wrong that we’re not able to show our gratitude to him and his team. I accept that things aren’t there forever and changes are inevitable but I do fear for our club under the current ownership. On a positive note is there a way can forward your report on to Dyche I’m sure he’d be chuffed to read it. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Very good article. Think Dyche would feel quite touched and proud reading that. Strange he doesn’t get a send off even if the club hierarchy felt a parting of ways was what the club needed.

The 'that one's for you' point towards the Darwen End after the 2-1 win will always remain the defining moment of the Dyche era for me amongst so many fantastic memories.

The wisdom of the decision is yet to play out but what isn't in question is just how fantastic Sean Dyche has been for Burnley FC for 10 years and what a shame it is that we weren't able to give him the kind of send off so thoroughly deserved.

Very well worded article Tony. Reminded us of some of the high spots and games during his "reign". Many milestones along the way. To achieve what he has done in the last 9 and a half years is beyond the dreams of most Burnley fans. The lasting legacy is of course the modern training centre at Gawthorpe. Lets hope the next generation of Clarets can do it justice. UTC

Very good article that summed up exactly how I felt about Dyche. I feel such a debt of gratitude to him for the moments and memories he has given to me and my Dad. Days out that will live with me forever.

I agree with Elizabeth personally, it IS sad. All good things come to an end, however much we wish they wouldn’t.

Yes we all knew it would end one day but the abrupt and untimely way it was carried out was somewhat brutal. Few were prepared for it at this stage and, however you look at it, the “sacking” was harsh and extreme.

However, I don't get this idea of Sean Dyche getting a "Wenger style" send off. You only get one of those when you are leaving on the last game of the season and the club has had a good season and will be challenging for trophies when the new season starts.

Sean Dyche has left us because he wasn't managing the team in a manner that gave us a great chance of staying him. So, he leaves before the season has finished... Now, if we'd put 5 past Norwich that would have been a great result and Sean Dyche would still be our manager.

"The last one doesn't owe you the next one." as Sean Dyche would say at every pre-match press conference.

Great article and choice of highlights. Sad is the correct emotion - sad that it ended like it did, sad this season has slightly tarnished a great legacy

Brilliant summation of a wonderful legacy, sad and frankly feels wrong it ended how it did whatever the league position. Beyond that I've made my thoughts clear elsewhere. Great read.

What would have been odder would have been him relegating us and having a parade at the end of the season on the last day. It had gone stale...end of. He is a legend and will probably be the greatest manager of my lifetime following Burnley, some of the joy he has given us will never be replicated. Good bye Sean and thanks for the memories

A good article.

I always thought the stuff that set him apart from most football people were good morals and values, and his leadership capabilities.

He always talked respectfully, stood up for what he believed in (Diving, winning football, importance of humour and being authentic etc) and led a group of people to achieve results higher than they probably believed possible.

He was always a fascinating listen on some of the podcasts and interviews he did - the high performance podcast is one I regularly refer to senior managers / associate directors that I am mentoring. Many people in football are afraid of having honest conversations. You hear hundreds of examples on the Undr The Cosh podcast and others. I felt that Dyche was never that way. No grudges, just an honest discussion of the situation. I will continue to search out his views on leadership, conflict resolution, developing a culture, the power of a group, and getting people believing and aligned behind a common goal. There's few who are able to describe the key components of this in plain English, and demonstrate it in practice too.

Very few football managers dramatically change the long term direction of football clubs that they manage. We're fortunate to have observed one of them.

This very much sums things up perfectly, alongside Tony's article which was a grand read.

I know I've not been alone in saying we should enjoy these years whilst we had them, as it's likely to have been the best we'll see in some time. This point was always going to come and whilst it's very sad, I can't be the only one feeling a little bit relieved and then a bit excited about where we could go next.

The next manager has to be got right. Will he hit the heights of Dyche's success? Unlikely. Would Dyche have hit those heights again? Equally unlikely. (I firmly believe he'd have been gone at the end of the season, stay up or not)

It does feel time for a change so whilst it's right to look back with fondness on the last 9.5 years, we have to look forward and hope whoever comes in puts some enjoyment back into the football. Difficult appointment for the club as there's obviously a lot riding on it but there's some really interesting names been put forward, alongside the usual dross.

Anyway that's for another thread, really, this one should remain celebratory. I thought that one season with Coyle had brought things I never thought I'd see but what Dyche achieved was ridiculous. I'm very lucky that I've seen my club go from the very bottom to the top division and Europe and all without the sugar daddy everyone else seems to have. The last 9.5 years have been the pinnacle and it will take some following. Chuffed to be able to say I was there.

Viva Sean Dyche.

His High Performance appearance is brilliant. I sometimes wonder how much his detractors' opinions (and in my view misconceptions) would change if they listened to one of his longer interviews. There's much more to him than eating worms in the snow.

It's a good point that. I read another article this week that touched on how he didn't hold grudges or get involved in petty feuds like so many in football do. Everything he did felt genuine and it definitely created a positive culture at the club for a long time.

Shame it's over but nothing lasts forever. Let's just hope the next manager is half as good.

A well composed article & pretty much summed up the duration of his tenure here, the manner of the exit could have been more graceful & I’m of the opinion that options hasn’t been exhausted to resolve things in 1 way or the other, I wish him all the best in the next chapter in his career.
