That's if anyone is interested, St George doesn't seem to get much publicity does he. Mind you, for someone born in Turkey and never actually put a foot in England so the story goes, is he actually worthy of being our Saint ? But at least he nailed that Dragon.

I've got my St George's cross t-shirt on but unfortunately its a bit chilly not to wear a pullover over it when I go out in a short while. Gong back a couple of decades, I used to live very close to a florist and always picked up a single rose for my lapel on the day but I'm not sure if florists still do much of that business nowadays.

Ive lived in Wales for a couple of fairly lengthy stints in my life so tend to celebrate 1st March too.

Weird how it appears that more English people are exercised by St Patricks Day than St George's Day though.

We celebrate it over here in Spain, many English bars deck out the St. George bunting and flags etc and we use it as an excuse to have a few beers together.

Saint Patrick wasn't Oirish (he was born in Roman Britain around 380ad didn't set foot in Ireland until he was 16) ...

Saint Andrew not Scottish but born in Galilee Israel, and also never set foot in Britain .... (he died in Greece in 60ad)

The only one of the Home nation Saints that was born in the country he represents is Saint David, a Welsh Bishop of Mynyw born in 500ad...

To all those who say we shouldn't raise a Glass to St George just cos he is a Turk shame on you ...

William Shakespeare was born 23 April 1564 and strangely died on his 52nd birthday in 1616. William was renowned for his enthusiastic celebrating and maybe a blocked artery
and too much alcohol led to his demise?

However, 52 was considered quite a good length of life in those days. Many died much younger.
