I agree, it could have gone either way but in truth it was only going one way.
Like I’ve said before, I’m convinced he will have spoken to senior players and taken their opinions on why things weren’t clicking, they’re his assets at the end of the day.

Still early days but I'm 100% certain we wouldn't be anywhere near 7 PTS under dyche.
Everyone looks comfortable and up for it, after years of shackling back. This bounce will continue.

We aren't there yet buy what was pleasing was us taking the chance to step out of the bottom 3. Less fear today. Once we went in front it largely killed them off

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams could have hoped for 7 points out of 9 against West Ham, Southampton and Wolves, and really we should have won at West Ham.
Even if this is just a new manager bounce it might well be enough to save our season.
And the squad seems to have renewed vigour now.
Still work to do, but today is a huge step towards survival.

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
Dyche was amazing but time and time again we were saying he needed to change a game, change tactics etc. but he was stubborn. We knew we had creative players and now the shackles are off they’re showing what they can do. Dyche was coaching the attack out of them.
In saying that, a good side like City would tear us apart.

There are still some on this board that would disagree with that. But they won't admit it they would have gone down with douche in charge

The first time this season we’ve had the opportunity to win a game to get out of the bottom three and we took it. I liked his tactical adaptability too putting Long on towards the end. Give it Jackson to the end of the season then go from there the players clearly enjoy playing for him.

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
You cannot argue with the results. Today was my first watch of us post-Dyche due to being abroad, I thought we were very good against a tough opponent.
I enjoyed seeing pro-active substitutions to remedy what was occurring in the game (I.e, Long coming on to help see it out). If I had one criticism of Dyche, it was his reticence to use the bench as quickly as I’d have hoped for.
I wasn’t (and simply put, am not) happy with how Dyche was dismissed as it felt so ruthless against someone who had given us so much, but I’ll hold my hands up about the upturn in performance (and results). Let us pray for Liverpool dismantling Everton now.

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
I totally understand the outpouring of emotion on the Dyche sacking. He did a brilliant job at the club and will go down as one of the five, if not three, best managers in our long and illustrious history. But something wasn’t right. Three things stand out
1. The inability to get the team up for the games which really mattered
2. Not being able to get anywhere near the best out of our most gifted players
3. A tactical stubbornness, which had once been a strength turning into a glaring weakness
In far too many games we were predictable and lacklustre. His removal has given the players renewed purpose and a sense of enjoyment. I was critical of the ownership for having no obvious plan at the point Dyche was sacked and they were as naive as usual in thinking they could easily find someone to try to keep us up. As it turns out, so far, they have got lucky. I can’t help thinking that Ben Mee has been a massive influence,
Still a long way to go, but, if we do go down, a fighting finish totally changes the narrative for next season.

I don’t think there’s any need for the nastiness you’re purposely putting out around DYCHE.
He was our manager throughout a very successful period of the club. Things may have not ended how we or he would have liked but there’s no need for disrespect.

Same voice, same thoughts that led to staleness. Didn’t refresh the squad, couldn’t refresh the squad when it was needed 4/5 years ago.Culmclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 4:41 pmI totally understand the outpouring of emotion on the Dyche sacking. Dyche himself spoke about it. It was the right time to move on in the summer, or reinvent the squad. Sadly it make it that far.

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
I think that's a sub set of 3. But he always played subs more reserved ly. You either accept that or don't.more often than not it worked for us.Frenchclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:13 pm4. Didn’t know when to substitute- he usually didn’t use them until we were losing.
For me the 1st one is the biggest thing that was the issue this year ... 6 points from the 21 available against other 4 bottom sides is poor. Even if we beat Watford it will be 9 out of 24. That needs fixing if we stay up.
Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
Absolutely love Dyche and always will. That said the changing room needed a newer fresher voice. I started doubting with the postponed Tottenham at home game with the shirt appearance and the hey look at me persona , he became the story not us. The king is dead long live the king.

This isn't true. He always knew to do the first substitution on the 72nd minute and to bring Ashley on at 86 minutes.Frenchclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:13 pm4. Didn’t know when to substitute- he usually didn’t use them until we were losing.

Re: Now we know Pace made the right decision
Dyche will always be someone I will admire for giving me some of the greatest footballing times with my sadly and recently diseased father. But, his time was up 2 years ago. It’s all well having long-term stability in life, but I’m not sure for a club like ours it’s healthy. When Sean came to our club he was honest and wholesome, by the time he left he was living his own legend. I hope for his sake and his future, he remembers the basics and gets his own eye of the tiger back. Thanks Sean, but I’m enjoying things much much better over these last 3 games.

I think we will know if we stay up
But whether its the shock of it getting everyone to pull in the same direction or whatever, we've put in proper performances in the last three and been rewarded
Got to keep it going for the next five
And whatever happens, the decision has meant that there will be new manager whatever division we are in, and that I think is the right call

I am pro-Dyche, I'm still far from uncertain it will be the right decision longterm but 100% agree that right now it has boosted performances and results.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 4:08 pmYou cannot argue with the results. His hesitation on subs was a problem, as was his reluctance to stick with a successful switch when we stumbled across one- Cork & Pieters' forced selection for instance ending with Cork returning to the bench, or switching to 433 and getting a point off Chelsea only to not line up with that successful setup the next match, or to my memory attempt it. Despite these issues he was still ultimately a manager who, whatever the form, whatever the mistakes, and whatever the performances, I always felt confident he could & would turn things around to grind out the results needed to survive, no matter how late on- because he always had.
I still genuinely hesitate to say he wouldn't have done it this season, but would have left it later than ever if so. For now, we've had a big boost, which has given us as good a shot of survival as we can hope for, so for now, it was a good decision to ditch him.

Very telling interview from Dwight after the match. He is playing with freedom, confidence and joy for the first time this season. Such a pleasure to see:
