Check out my new album

Post by burnleybassman » Mon May 02, 2022 4:27 pm

Hey guys. I thought I would let my fellow Clarets know that I have released a charity album to raise money for Mental Health UK. The album is made up of cover songs by the Manchester band Doves with contributors recording songs from around the world. If you’re interested in having a listen, or would like to donate a few quid towards a worthy cause, then head to www.LostCovers.com.

The album can be downloaded/streamed from there and donations can be made by clicking on the link for our Just Giving page. Even Chris Boden has given it his seal of approval! 😀

Hi burnleybassman, if you're Otley based pop in and see us at Shadow Brewing on Boroughgate, always happy to talk football with fellow Clarets.

I am indeed Otley based! Not sure why I’ve never heard of Shadow Brewing but I’ll certainly seek it out in the near future. Cheers!

Everstrong 'Hello Again' still one of my top 5 favourite albums.

I might be a big softie but still feel soreness in my eyes when listening to the end of 'The Other Side'. Magical!

As if you remember me from the old Everstrong days! That takes me back - good times. All the songs including the EP we released are on Spotify & Apple Music now.

Nice one! The Last Broadcast recently had its 20th anniversary - I released this album on the same date to coincide with that. If you’re interested in checking out more content from the covers album, then there are videos on YouTube and our Instagram account @lostcoversdoves 👍

Doves have so many good tunes.
Even the b-sides of singles.

First LP Lost Souls - you'd be hard pushed to find a better side 2 on any album, faultless and brilliant.
All their Albums are pretty darn good (least fave being their latest - but that still has plenty to offer also).

Hard to pick a fave track but this always finds a space on my playlists.

or this (a bit long for some)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWJ0xr0 ... olmestoyou

So so many many more ex' tunes.
Enjoy !!!

I used to be on Clarets Mad, and after buying 'Hello Again' I spotted a post from you where you mentioned that you were in Everstrong. I can't remember how I found out about the album but I liked the sound and bought it. It immediately became one of my favourites and still is. Good to hear you are still making music!

Glad to hear the album is still getting some love. There are some great songs on there. We had the song for the AFC Wimbledon fund as well - I remember going into Blackburn HMV and buying myself 10 copies. They got suspicious so I bought Amarillo which Peter Key had released with Tony Christie that week ha.

Listening to it now and donated. Big Doves fan and I've seen they are promoting this through their own social media.

Who are the bands/artists doing the covers? Doesn't give any info on the web page.

Hey thanks a lot for your kind words and also for donating! Glad you’re enjoying the album. The artists are all fans of Doves. They are listed on Soundcloud if you want to check them out (also on our Instagram page @lostcoversdoves). There are contributors from all around the world so it’s been really cool working with them all and putting the album together!

My wife went to your school and ironically she was telling me about your album the night before and making a donation.
She had got her old school scrap book out over the weekend and think it all stemmed from there.
She was telling me you had moved away from the area etc
It wasn't until I read this post I put 2 and 2 together, and realised it was the same person

How strange haha

Hi all - just thought I’d give a heads up to anyone who was following my project last year. The album that was started to raise money for Mental Health UK is now being released on CD with an extra track. So if you’re a fan of the band ‘Doves’ and prefer to have a physical copy of your music, then by all means send me your postal address via email to lostcoversdoves@gmail.com. The CD is £15.00 with proceeds going to charity + you get some cool pin badges!

If you’re not fussed about the music, but still like the idea of donating towards a great cause, then feel free to leave a donation on our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/doveslostcovers 🙏
