Refs been about as inconsistent as you can get I think. How’s that a foul by sterling, yet alone a yellow

Interesting comment if this score stays the same.
Re: Real-City
What is Pep meant to do about Grealish not scoring at least one of his two clear chances to win the tie? Or the 8 clear chances they missed in the first leg? Or Laporte completely sleeping from 89 minutes in this match. Easy to point the finger at Pep but he’s delivered a masterclass in both legs.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:09 pmAnother CL nightmare for Pep? Although to look at it another way, he did basically cost them the final against Chelsea last season by picking a team and system he'd never picked before. I think he'll consider his time at City slightly disappointing if he doesn't win a CL

Re: Real-City
A masterclass? They totally gave the impetus to Madrid in the first leg having been in total control. And tonight they’ve been pretty poor, and his substitutions have been questionable at best.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:15 pmWhat is Pep meant to do about Grealish not scoring at least one of his two clear chances to win the tie? Tactical masterclass. Dominated Madrid at home and perfect away CL performance. Madrid didn’t have one shot on target prior to the 90th minute!

Re: Real-City
I'm just having this same chat with a mate on WhatsApp.
He's built an incredible team that's dominant domestically and playing some fantastic football.
He's getting them to European finals, but at present he just can't seem to find a way to win when it matters and that's a real mystery.
Maybe not buying an out and out striker last summer is coming back to bite him on the behind right now.

Re: Real-City
I suggest that you read up The Laws of the Game and their interpretation. Referee was solid all night and would not be conned by players falling about all over the place. He tried to let the game flow, yes he could have issued a couple of cautions for both teams, however, he did not consider that that would help the game.
Bottom line ---City snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Re: Real-City
It’s hard to argue against him with the volume of goals they score, throughout the team. However, add a Kane or indeed Haaland to that team and it’d have made a huge difference in games like tonight and the first leg.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:23 pmI'm just having this same chat with a mate on WhatsApp.

Top drawer time wasting!
Re: Real-City
You do realise they tried to sign Kane but Spurs didn’t want to let him go? Haaland wasn’t available last summer.
Re: Real-City
He’s been inconsistent, given bookings for perfectly timed challenges and not booked players for obvious yellow card offences. I know you like to defend referees but it’s been a flaky performance at best.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:25 pmI suggest that you read up The Laws of the Game and their interpretation. Re: Real-City
Correction - Spurs had an asking price and weren't willing to sell Land for any less.
If City had met that price they would have Kane right now.
Same with Haaland, he had a price but no one wanted to meet it.
Re: Real-City
Read laws of the game? Sorry why? I can use my eyes and see how inconsistent he’s been. Some of the ridiculous fouls he’s given completely wrong and I won’t get started on the yellows.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:25 pmI suggest that you read up The Laws of the Game and their interpretation. I see they’ve built the statue to Courtois on the pitch. He doesn’t want to take this GK.

Re: Real-City
City have enjoyed the better of both legs, and scored 5 goals over the tie, however yet again their undoing if they crash out is their defending.
They should have put the tie to bed last week, and somehow contrived to throw an almost certain final place away in the dying minutes tonight.
And fair or not if they don't even make the final it could be argued they're going backwards on the European stage.

Kind of wanted City to go through, would have been good for the English players to be in a CL final - but can’t help but think Liverpool v RM is a more entertaining prospect.

Should've been out of sight 7 or 8 in the first leg, Real Madrid offered nothing for 89 minutes, funny old game.

Re: Real-City
Extremely inconsistent from the ref, Casemeiro should have gone in the 1st half.
I know this is the 4th official, but the stoppage time given at the end of extra time was shocking. Real Madrid players throwing themselves to the floor and the ref fell for it.
