Subs today
Think Jacko had been on the money with his team selections and substitutions so far but think he made a mistake today.
Cornet should’ve been on at HT, maybe sooner, and Pieters should’ve come on for Tarks and played LCB, I think. Pieters wouldn’t have got drawn in like Long did.
Need to play Cornet now. We can’t keep on being cautious with players.

Re: Subs today
Depends on if Cornet could manage a full 45 minutes after his injury

Re: Subs today
When Tarky goes off why not give Bobby Thomas a game? Everyone knows Kevin Long is not good enough, never has been never will be, give a young lad a game and see what he can do. I’m all for young lads being around the first team for experience etc but when they aren’t playing in the u23s and aren’t realistically going to get a chance in the first team then surely their development is being hampered.

Re: Subs today
Would also have gone 4-5-1 today, especially first half and following the Vydra injury. Stephen’s in place of Barnes. Hope we consider something similar for Spurs away.

Good point. Always looks a goal threat to me as well.Paddy1882 wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 7:20 pmWhen Tarky goes off why not give Bobby Thomas a game? Re: Subs today
If Lennon and Barnes are in your starting eleven, it's impossible to have too much hope for the subs. Having said that I would have had Cornet on at half time for Lennon, or even earlier.

Re: Subs today
I understand not risking him in the starting line up, but honestly at 2-0 down I’d have brought him on before HT if only to lift the crowd. But certainly at HT.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 7:21 pmIf Lennon and Barnes are in your starting eleven, it's impossible to have too much hope for the subs. Was hoping we’d pack the midfield today and keep it tight. Villa are a much better team than people give them credit for, and have goalscorers everywhere hence would have liked to see us go with something a bit different.

My thoughts too at Ht Vino.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 7:21 pmIf Lennon and Barnes are in your starting eleven, it's impossible to have too much hope for the subs. Having said that I would have had Cornet on at half time for Lennon, or even earlier.

Or we could have moved Lennon to the right wing where he's had some outstanding games recently.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 7:21 pmIf Lennon and Barnes are in your starting eleven, it's impossible to have too much hope for the subs. This would have allowed us to take Weghorst off and play either McNeil or Cornet off Barnes with the other wide left. (Or they could have alternated to give Villa something to think about).
