Should we play like Everton?

Post by SalisburyClaret » Mon May 09, 2022 6:52 pm

Would you rather we play like ourselves against Spurs and maybe end up with nothing - or play like Everton and get a point, even if it means diving, time-wasting, surrounding referees, feigning injuries etc etc

Any way that gets us a point, we're certainly going to need at least one
from Spurs or Villa going into the Newcastle game.

Have you seen Ashley Barnes play?

Nick Pope managed to turn time wasting into an art form under Dyche.

We've done all that. We were very good at it- apart from (thankfully) the referee thing.

I think we should’ve parked the bus vs Villa at home & certainly think we should in the next few away games. Alongside taking any chances to manage the game. That’s very important at this level and we can’t be naive to it post-Dyche.

Pope can waste time and Barnes can buy a foul but we don’t have anyone near the level of Richarlison and Gordon. As for surrounding referees - Dyche didn’t stand for that as it ran the risk of a booking

He's an expert at falling to the floor after making an easy save or catch.

I would hate to see any Burnley side diving and feigning injury like Everton

…and was booked for time-wasting in his 1st full game for Clarets at Anfield!
Can anyone recall any other keeper being booked for similar? :?

To play like Everton you need the pace of Richarlison Gray and Gordon.

Heaton at Stoke getting cramp………

If we’re one up at Spuds with 30 minutes to go I don’t mind if Popes old crampy injury plays up and he has to roll around a lot….

The best one was against Spurs this year when Kane retrieved the ball for him and Pope pretended to go looking for it

To play like Everton you need the pace of Richarlison Gray and Gordon.
And you need the opposition to miss a boatload of chances before standing aside to let you get an easy goal.
