Played with his brother Nathan. Highly intelligent cricket brains, tough characters and sets very high standards. Not disappointed with this appointment

Like this a lot. White ball specialist, but definitely knows the red ball game well.

Re: Brendon McCullum
Strange appointment given that he’s never coached a red ball team but has extensively worked in white ball cricket. They initially interviewed him for the white ball role.
The positive is that he’s not one of the old boys and will offer something new.

Re: Brendon McCullum
Odd but rather exciting appointment. Odd in the sense I’d always refer to him as a white ball specialist, exciting in the sense he’s different to the bog standard norm, played exciting cricket and will gain respect of the dressing room.

With a name like that I’m guessing he is Australian or something.

Re: Brendon McCullum
If you ever get the chance to watch the series he did with Tufnell on Prime I wouldn’t bother , McCullum came across boring , and he’s obviously a white ball specialist so doesn’t make much sense.

I'd suggest someone new was essential.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 3:26 pm

Its several generations past the point where the Old Boys Club was binned.

Remember watching Rawtenstall when his brother was pro. Never lacked for grit and determination. That puts a New Zealander as captain and another as Test coach.

There’s not many people in the sports I follow these days I’d describe as a class act and role model, but he is one of them.
