If Ukraine win then it really will call into question the integrity of the competition.

Re: Eurovision 2022
You're right because usually it is so removed from politics and judged purely on the artistic quality of the song and performance.

Re: Eurovision 2022
It's almost as if Ukraine know it's a foregone conclusion as their song is dreadful. Be pretty hard justifying how it has won when..not if..it does.
I just hope and pray that there is still some integrity left in this competition.

Re: Eurovision 2022
Ukraine will almost certainly win even with the judges votes. We have a decent entry this year for once, so hopefully a reasonable finish at least.

Re: Eurovision 2022
The sad thing is that it could be a really good annual event, however it is used for political points scoring which doesn't make it a competition. Pathetic really.

Re: Eurovision 2022
Funniest programme of the year.
Obviously nothing to do with music but it’s a great laugh. Norway’s ‘Give that Wolf a Banana’ sums it up

Re: Eurovision 2022
I've no problem with this it is only once a year after all. mind you I won't be tuning in, I'll catch up on the results later, for once the UK actually has a decent entry, I heard it on the radio this week, and it's pleasant enough to listen too, doubt we'll win as Ukraine will almost certainly sweep the board with the public vote, even if their entry isn't that great TBH, but given the coverage Sam Ryder is getting you'd expect a top 5 finish at least.

Re: Eurovision 2022
It's just a bit of high camp fluff, but millions of people here in the UK watch the show and most of them treat it as a bit of a laugh, and lord knows we all could do with one. Those who get all het up about it, and the voting, need to get a grip.

If it’s a bit of a laugh, and it matters not, bin the “voting” and accept it for what it is… an absolute joke.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 7:12 pmIt's just a bit of high camp fluff, but millions of people here in the UK watch the show and most of them treat it as a bit of a laugh, and lord knows we all could do with one. i don't watch it (i'm an adult) and wouldn't otherwise care but the fact that i pay for that political circus via my license fee (the uk is one of the major financial contributors) annoys me.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 7:12 pmThose who get all het up about it, and the voting, need to get a grip.
if it was indeed a song contest then fair enough but it isn't and hasn't been for a long time.

Ytib, you might have had a point in your previous post if millions here in the UK didn't watch it. It's called entertainment. HTH.

Re: Eurovision 2022
Anyway, I'll leave some of your angry miserablists here to do your annual crybaby posts about a TV show that millions of UK viewers will be watching this evening.
Meanwhile, we are now off out to a family and friends Eurovision party where up to 25 of us will have a great time, and all ages too, from kids to great grandparents. BTW - I can't stand the music, but that's not the point. We'll all have a good catch up and a laugh while scoring the acts and taking pee.

Re: Eurovision 2022
The voting has improved since they’ve changed it to be half the national judges and half the public. Sam Ryder got a massive cheer at the beginning of the show so perhaps things are changing. I’m sure Ukraine will win and I have no problem with that
