Post by Tribesmen » Sun May 15, 2022 9:18 am

Going to be in Manchester early next Friday and hope to go along to the Cricket at Old Trafford .
Now never been there before and i will have Mrs Tribes along with me so looking for advice of which part of the ground to sit in . The wife said she would be happy sitting in the sun the whole day if the weather is good 8-) .
Any help please ?

I don't know if you watch much live cricket but the action is far quicker from the side to the point you might struggle seeing the ball whizz past.
Always best to get seats behind the bowlers arm on a 2nd tier if you can.

Flixton Claret off here is a regular there, he might be able to get you good seats or offer more advice.

Stand A is the best for the sun, and you're at a 45 degree angle to the wicket. Closer to the bars too.

Oh and much more legroom than the double tiered stands.

Tribes - once in the ground you can pay £5 each to sit on the middle balcony which is in the pavilion behind the bowlers arm.
Plenty of sun until after lunch when you might consider moving round to B or C stand ( upper) dependant on which is open and have sunshine until close of play.

Morning Flixton, I didn't know you could upgrade to the middle balcony - how do you go about doing that, is it possible to pay on the day, or do you need to book in advance?

Chris - sorry for the delay I’ve been away in Portugal.

Yes the Lancaster Membership category has been terminated this season so 80+ seats available on a £5 upgrade on the middle balcony. Pay on the day.

Hi Tribes, me and Mrs MBIC heading over with a few other Clarets. Not sure what stand we are in, think it is to the left of party stand as you look at it from the pitch.

The party stand isn't there at the moment, and with the building work going on where the Red Rose Suite used to be, Old Trafford is frankly a bit of a mess.

It'll look great when the new hotel and stand are completed.

They've started on the piling with the looks of it going by on the Met yesterday, so I imagine it will start flying up (assuming Barnfield aren't the main contractor!)

Oh yes, it'll be quite impressive when it's finished, and presumably the party stand will be put up again by the time the international matches come round.

Bit harsh LDC … all the club have done is demolish the old red rose suite or media centre for fans of a certain age!

The new media centre , The Point , Hilton , 2 double tier stands and our iconic members pavilion still make it a fantastic ground to watch cricket.

It'll never be the prettiest ground, Flixton, but I still love it, even though, at the moment, parts of it resemble a building site.
And I do like what they've done to the inside of the pavilion.
