Pope 8 few great reaction saves
Roberts 6 not much of an attacking threat
Taylor 6 skinned easily a few times but did well getting forward
Collins 9 developing every week into a fantastic player
Long 7 did well and benefited from extra centre half
Lowton 6 didn't notice him much but did nothing wrong
Mcneil 7 wish he'd seen more of the ball further up the field
Cork 7 ran his socks off
Brownhill 7 as above
Cornet 5 didn't see the desire the rest showed and weak in the tackle, chance wasn't that easy
Barnes 7 did better than I expected and cares more than most

I expected this game to be a contest until Spurs scored, whether that was after 5 minutes or 70. First 20 was awful to watch and it just looked like a matter of time. But we weathered the storm and grew into the system. Cannot fault the effort, desire and skill out there today. Thought we were fully worth a point. Sure the penalty will get done to death on other threads but thought the commentary team summed it up well when they said its not a penalty people want to see given but its technically a penalty under the new rules.

Great performance, system worked a treat. Must continue it at Villa.

Special mention to Kevin Long who, for me, had his best game for us especially in the circumstances. He was immense alongside the imperious Collins.

Only made one post on the match thread today.
Utter, slimy bullcrap to award a penalty for that.
They're just destroying the game I grew up loving.

Footballing wise, we were outstanding today.
Weathered the early storm, grew into the match, and then these pathetic people ruin the game by conjuring up crap like that.

Pope 8 - two excellent saves in the second half and his distribution was very good today also.
Roberts 7 - defended well today and used rhe ball reasonably well other than early in the second half when well positioned. Just couldn't get him hugh enough up the pitch consistently.
Long 7 - stepped in well again, we know his limitations but nothing wrong qith todays performance.
Lowton 7 - filled in well in an unfamiliar position and looked relatively comfortable. He did look to go a little to long at times however.
Collins 9* - excellent today, positioning when defending the Bix superb, some great passes and dominant in the air.
Taylor 8 - defended really well, kept wide which really helped us stretch the play.
Brownhill 7 - fantastic energy in there today, busy rather than dominant.
Cork 8 - thought he screened the back 3 excellently and made it difficult for Kane and Son to impact the game by picking g the ball in the pockets.
McNeil 7 - his use of the ball in the middle third was excellent and he helped us keep the ball and stretch the play. However, should have done better when we'll positioned towards the end and a poor free kick. Hoping he can find his cutting edge I the final third for the last couple.of games.
Barnes 7 - a nuisance throughout and so unlucky with the shot that hit the post, and the penalty....
Cornet 6 - he makes us more difficult to play against due to his pace on the break but he really needs to offer more nuisance value and constant threat. Probably should have done better with his chance.

Pope 9 Two very good saves but neither will have suprised any of our fans too much. We're quite accustomed to it.
Roberts 7 Thought we were susceptible to balls coming in too easily from wide for the first quarter of the game. They tightened up as we found our way into it though.
Lowton 8 Left sided cebtre half and didn't look out of place. Fair play!
Collins 10 Oustanding. Great work defensively and drive us up the pitch. Best two passes of the game came from him. On another day gets an assist. Was easily MOTM.
Long 8 Looked happier on that side and in that system.
Taylor 7 See Roberts. Really grew into the game.
McNeil 8 Would have liked to have seen him get at them a bit more and ask a few questions but he appeared to be the one player that kept the ball well for us.
Cork 8 Good shield and simple use of the ball.
Brownhill 8 Covered plenty of ground. Didn't always come off but he never gives up.
Barnes 7 Should have been awarded 3 or 4 more free kicks and the penalty is iffy at best. Decent game.
Cornet 4 That wasn't nearly good enough from our talisman. Gave the ball away cheaply all too often and didn't look to be really trying very hard. Several loose balls to be won and he didn't even reach a sprint.

An excellent all round performance. If, and I know it's a bit if, we performance to that standard in our remaining matches we should be ok. Difficult MOTM but I'm just going for Collins over the England No1.

Thought we played well as a match in isolation and liked the system. We were unlucky. We’d have been better off with Leeds losing and a bigger defeat at the end of the day though.

Pope 9
Roberts 7
Lowton 7
Collins 9 mom outstanding game
Long 7 played his part today
Taylor 7
McNeil 7
Brownhill 7
Cork 7
Cornet 5 looked off the pace
Barnes 6

Weghorst 5 not the man to bring on if you need a goal

We were up against a good side but we lack quality up front. Cornet isn’t a striker.

VAR totally ruined us, again. Embarrassing decision.

Pope 10 remarkable
Roberts 7
Collins 10 absolutely immense
Long 9 Why were we worried ;-)
Lowton 8
Taylor 8
McNeil 9 really looked up for it
Cork 8 does so much to keep us moving
Brownhill 8 a monster
Cornet 6 disapointing
Barnes 7 offering more than the others atm

Just back. Great stadium. Great performance.

Pope 9 Two incredible saves

Roberts 7 Too many risky passes. Sound, though.
Long 9 Never, ever lets us down
Collins 10 Best player on the pitch
Lowton 8 superb in a new role
Taylor 7 Had the chance to get forward more. Much better 2nd half. Solid.

McNeil 9 Solved our creative CM problem. One great pass for Barnes
Cork 10 Outstanding performance.
Brownhill 8 Cork’s legs. They compliment each other so well.

Cornet 6 Really, really poor, unfortunately.
Barnes 9 Fantastic. What a strike. So unlucky.

6 is ‘adequate’ not ‘really really poor’ which would be a 3 as 4 is ‘poor’.

As I always say, it’s about opinions, but low marks for Lowton a surprise. I thought he was outstanding in a completely new role for him.

Some very low marks for Lowton

💪 Despite ending up on the losing side, #BurnleyFC’s Matt Lowton performed superbly standing in at centre-back.

💯 He won 𝟏𝟎𝟎% of his duels, 𝟏𝟎𝟎% of his tackles, made a game-high six clearances and also made two vital blocks.

Perfect system and very good performance. When the opposition manager says we are the worst opponent for your nerves it is music to my ears. Tactically perfect performance spoilt by poor VAR officiating and a weak referee.

Have to say I agree with most of themarks here but very surprised Cornet has scored so highly. He was poor yesterday and yet again spurned a good chance with a poor finish. He has scored some really spectacular worldies but he isn't a forward in a million years.

Have to say I agree with most of themarks here but very surprised Cornet has scored so highly. He was poor yesterday and yet again spurned a good chance with a poor finish. He has scored some really spectacular worldies but he isn't a forward in a million years.
Waits for the ball to come to him too much. Agree with you that he isn’t a forward but he’s definitely not a winger either.
