Yes an excellent report, when I saw the “penalty” on MOTD I couldn’t believe it. No appeals on the pitch, a very poor decision.

'I am 100% convinced that it would not have been given at the other end'
Welcome to my cynical world.
The angle after the VAR decision, suddenly shows an appearance of the ball looking like it rolled up Barnes body onto his arm. That doesn't count, methinks.
I remember that pen against Man City, where no one appealed for anything and a minute later, VAR suddenly alert ref that they have found something.
This was the same. Any opportunity to break deadlock, in favour of preferred team for Prem exposure.

Great report Tony.
I'm still annoyed about that penalty. I never like losing but that really was a shocking penalty decision.

Great report CT as always. That penalty decisions just about sums up everything that is wrong in the Premiere League, between VAR and the ludicrously easily manipulated referees by big names. If we go down I wont miss this side of football one bit.

Re: REPORT: Heroic Clarets pay the penalty at Spurs
Sunday gave us an awful taste of two of the very worst aspects of modern football:
A ridiculous kick off time (on a Sunday let's not forget) with a four hour drive for most of our supporters. Coming from the midlands we were lucky to only need to rise at 6:30am on the day of rest.
An unacceptable decision, made by the TV cameras, for the benefit of the TV viewers and big clubs, which is to the detriment of the supporters in the ground and to the very nature of sporting integrity.
It's almost enough to make you want to jack it in but the players played with such heart and passion. We simply didn't deserve it.
Thanks for the report, CT.

Fair report. I was expecting you to side with the ‘it was a clear penalty idiots’. But I am pleased to say you did not. Now let’s go and get the 4 or however many points we need. My guess is 1 will do it but with the luck Leeds have been having it might well be 2 or 4. When was the last time Welbeck headed wide of an open goal from 1 yard !!!

Never ever a pen and as you say Tony Kane refereed the game.
This season we have had zero luck at all, surely we are due some in the last two matches.

Sadly, can't see any luck, good luck that is, coming our way now. Everything this season seems to have conspired against us.The Enclosure wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 5:22 pmNever ever a pen and as you say Tony Kane refereed the game.

Very good report. Still angry about the ridiculous penalty decision.

Just going off topic but relevant to your mention of silly kick off times.Rowls wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 4:42 pmSunday gave us an awful taste of two of the very worst aspects of modern football:

Everton v Brentford was due to kick off at 2pm yesterday but was changed very late to 4.30pm following a request from West Ham to bring forward their game from 4.30pm to 2pm. They said it would allow them more recovery time for the Europa League final this Wednesday.
The Premier League granted this request despite the fact that many Brentford fans had booked trains from London to Liverpool for a 2pm kick off and 4pm finish.
No thought at all for those fans.
Brentford approached the Premier League for compensation for their fans. The Premier League wasn't interested so Brentford refunded the cost of every ticket they sold to their fans to help compensate for those fans who had to pay again for the return journey home.
So basically every Brentford fan got a free match ticket courtesy of their club. Great jesture.

Dreadful referee. Glad you agreed Tony. The standard has dropped. I have seen some woeful.performances on the Turf.

The standard will drop even further with the best two retiring at the end of the season.
