As a game on it's own, doesn't really affect us but both clubs do have a direct effect on our outcome on Sunday.

Thoughts???

I'd hope for a Newcastle win, last home game of the season vs a 'big' team.

A good win and most would see that as the spiritual end of the season and our game takes on insignificance.
If Toon lose there might be more pressure on them to do something against us.

Arsenal have to win if the want to have a chance of being top 4. But I can see Newcastle winning.

I'm torn on this, a win puts Newcastle only 2 points short of the top 10, a loss means the highest possible finish for them would be 12th.

Arsenal win hopefully. Anything less and their top 4 hopes are all but over, which makes it more likely they'll capitulate v Everton on the final day.

Don't think it'll make any difference whatsoever who wins tonight as far as Sunday's concerned.
It'll be tough for us against Toon and very tough for Everton against the Gunners. They'll both be up for it.

All on the day.

Wonder if Eddie would be up to relegating his old club if it came to it? Also Tripps and Wood..I know they are professionals but cant imagine it would be a nice feeling.

Surely a no brainer. We'd want Arsenal to win all day (much as it pains me to say so).

It means they'll bust a gut to beat Everton too (as I can't see Spurs slipping up against Norwich)

A Newcastle defeat also leaves them with barely anything to play for. Whatever anyone says, a team with everything to play for (us) against a team with nothing to play for (with external factors aside e.g. rivalry, history etc which we don't have particularly with Newcastle...) and that team with everything to play for should win if the teams are reasonably matched (which I think we are).

Absolutely Arsenal to win tonight, please

Didn't Dennis Law once relegate Man Utd with a goal and look miserable . His professional instinct took over

Eddie Howe is a Everton fan, I'm sure he'd rather us went down

We can no longer survive just by other sides (eg: Everton) losing.

So IMO the best outcome is the one that affects our fixture and that's a Newcastle win they can point to as the bow that ties up their season and play the second team vs us.

I think Newcastle will be looking at their game at the Turf
as the "bow that ties up their season."

Not a chance they'll ease up if they win tonight, I wouldn't have thought.

You can’t say that on here. The only reason they play like this is because they spent money.

Not allowed Arsenal to settle on the ball at all and they break with speed and purpose. Look at good side to be fair and made Arsenal look very ordinary.

Carragher said on Sky that he thought Everton would drag themselves over the line, tend to agree.

On the plus side, Brentford were terrific yesterday, if they replicate their Goodison performance, they'll slam DL, seem to be hitting great form now.

But were going to need points ourselves for sure.

Just catching up Newcastle sounded impressive tonight, and if they play anything like that on Sunday we're in for a blooming hard shift.

Arsenal were dogga at Spurs and dogga tonight, how on earth are they so high in the table.

Going from the only team in English football to the team that has taken the third most points in the league this calendar year is impressive no matter how much money Howe spent in January.

Top manager that has turned them into a great team. Will most likely challenge for top 6 next season
