140 years of history but these next five days feel like some of the most important the club has faced.

I genuinely feel if we can get the results we need in the next 5 days, we are going to have a really good season next year.

Would you say in 140 years has under achieved, only one FA Cup, just the two titles, never won the League Cup...

Would i be correct in saying that Burnley is the smallest town in England to have had its football club crowned Champions of England? Twice. I wouldn't class that as under achieving.

A club that has also played its largest % of games in the top division

I think that may have been the point. 59 seasons as a top flight club, it could be argued we should have won more (cups, if not titles).

I'm not necessarily agreeing btw.

Or it could be argued that 59 top flight seasons for a club of our size in a town the size of Burnley IS the achievement.

I’ll bite….

Why would anyone think that, whilst also discounting all of the other achievements that the club has to its name?

There have been well over 100 other teams competing in the top four divisions of English football during our 140 year history. Even ignoring the disparity in resources - we’ve done incredibly well.

Not sure football as we know it now will be recognisable 140 years from now. Interactive stadiums from home, players wired up to a pc so you can get a 3d effect as though you are playing,r quarters for adverts etc. Oh and Blackburn will still be sh1te and below us.

We’ve been champions of every division we’ve played in,not many clubs can boast that fact…I guess if I was to be pedantic we only need to add the premier league to that feat :D

An excellent series of achievements but where’s the commemorative shirt?

The depressing thing about this is that it only seems like yesterday when we were celebrating our centenary!

History is a subjective issue - difficult to take a balanced view because of where we are now. That record - coupled with our current PL status stands us in good stead in comparison to our natural rivals - Blackburn, Blackpool, Bolton and Preston - all of whom would jump at the chance to swap places with us

I also take great pride in supporting a proper team that's representative of its locality and community. Tradition perhaps doesn't fit with the global brand PL model - but regardless of that they can't take it away from us

What struck me that we often hear of the glory years in the 50’s, 60’s - 70;s. But it feels like weve achieved more in trophy’s etc in the last 30 years across all the leagues, which is giving me pause for thought

Indeed just the two league titles.

The same number as West Ham and Spurs combined! ;)
