No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
A ee calculation without VAR interventions, we would be up 2 places to 16th currently, with 37 points in the bag.
We knew that, of course!

Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
And if we'd won the games we should have by taking our chances, and not gifting sloppy goals away we'd likely be even higher.
We can't keep bemoaning VAR for where we sit in the league, we're 18th for a number of reasons, and VAR isn't even in the top 10.
Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
Reasons like failing to score against a woeful Norwich defense led by a player who Sean considered not good enough to play for us. If we do go down ( which I pray we dont) then look no further than the 2 Norwich games

That's one of the games VAR let us down in. There's a probably extra 2 points from that game to go on our total.

Would be interesting to see the full table and/or the swing of points.
I presume the Norwich and Arsenal home games, as well as Spurs and Leicester A were the ones we hypothetically would have got points from.
Although we must add at least Everton H and Watford A to the list where a VAR intervention against us happened, yet we still went on yo win.
I was talking to a few mates yesterday, and questioned them to name the last slice if good fortune we had, or a dodgy/disputation VAR went for us?
Really struggling to think of the last time

You only tend to notice and remember the ones that go against you and tend to think VAR gets it right when it is in your favour.
Im sure every team in the bottom half of the table probably think they should have X more points and be higher up the table because of referees and VAR so Id suggest this kind of thinking is a load of tosh

Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
We'd have two more points if Cornet had converted that
penalty at West Ham.....
You can go on forever picking individual moments, but its daft goals conceded and glaring misses in front of our opponent's net that's the reason we are where we are.

Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
Norwich at home won’t be a game included in these stats, it’ll only be where VAR overturned decisions.
Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
And it’s all supposition of course. That fact that VAR awarded Spurs a penalty against us in the first half doesn’t necessarily mean we’d have got any points from the match.
Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
It's still very puzzling as to why they never took a longer look at the Tim Krul incident considering the amount of time they spent on the Spurs penalty.

They did look at the Tim Krul incident. They deemed it not to be a penalty.
For all those saying “what about mistakes and missed chances”……that’s happened in football forever and will happen forever more.
However third party intervention in on field decisions is a relatively new introduction and can be considered outside the usual historic measures.
VAR isn’t responsible for our league position but it has certainly contributed.

It is a mix, you can blame VAR for Norwich & Palace at home but also you can blame players for misses in the last minute against Palace home and Chelsea away.

Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
I’m sure you could find about 30 points we “could” have had over the course of the season, particularly with Chris wood about, but we don’t have those points and that’s why we’re battling relegation. Can’t change it, but what we can do is give everything to win the last couple of games…

Re: No VAR = 16th 37 pts so far!
It's a bit of a stretch really - we should have got a penalty v Norwich. We could have got a penalty v Arsenal and Watford - there might be others. We did get a penalty v West Ham - but missed it. A borderline offside went against us at Leicester but another went in our favour at Watford
I'm sure Everton and Leeds have similar experiences. We are where we are based on the quality of our performances over 36 games - I don't think we can argue that we deserve to be a lot better off than where we are at
