Re: Lancs League Saturday
Strange start to the season with no team really showing any sign of consistency.

No Frankie , no Joe Hawke, no pro again (sub pro fails) no set batting order.
To be honest the House have won a couple of games when all seemed lost after an early order collapse. No surprise then that we could not do it again.

Shite, everyone’s knows, but…. We don’t hide…
I said since day one, we will be top 4, missing some players and a settle pro.

Re: Lancs League Saturday
We've scraped a few games from unlikely positions this season....and certainly shown character.
Just no chance today. I was talking to the guy who dismissed our sub pro today as he was fielding on the boundary near me. Asked him about the pitch..he said it wasn't doing that much and our players had just got out to rash shots and that we were wafting at too much.
I think at a rough guess we had about 5 or 6 dismissals caught either behind or slips. The catch to dismiss Blez was stunning to be fair.
In contrast we never really troubled their batsmen and they've all struggled this season bar their pro. Just one of those days.
League looks wide open this year.

It's difficult to ask directly about his issue and who he is...but is he looking at a long stretch? If so I can put two and two together and get 4 instead of 5..if you get my drift?

If you watch Lowerhouse, I’ll have a chat with you on the match, not fair to post it on here because you never know who knows victims etc, but he’s a vile human being, you’d be gobsmacked at how vileSomethingfishy wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 9:30 pmIt's difficult to ask directly about his issue and who he is...but is he looking at a long stretch? I genuinely think The House will struggle in a lot of the remaining games.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 8:13 pmWe've scraped a few games from unlikely positions this season....and certainly shown character.

We have not replaced Whitehead, difficult to do, who scored nearly 700 runs last season.
The Pro well least said the better.
The bowling lacks penetration at times.
Too many batters giving their wicket away cheaply.
Think we will finish much closer to the bottom of the league than the top.
Still a good day out though.

Re: Lancs League Saturday
As a one time "insider" and now an very interested outside observer of The 'Ouse, i feel they've been heading for a cross roads for a little while now. A whole bunch of very good players reaching the end or becoming a bit too predictable or complacent or lacking that extra edge or commitment and some very promising youngsters who could (potentially) be the next generation, but they need first team experience and they need time and they need people to show faith and be patient and whilst all that's going on, 'Ouse will struggle to compete at the very top or win much. I could be wrong, but they're in a period of transition maybe.

Lowerhouse lose a game and the typical lot on here talk about how the clubs going bust and will be demoted to Division 3...
Re: Lancs League Saturday
Colne put up a decent showing against Darwen tonight in the 20/20 but lost by 5 wickets. Wasn't exactly great weather for watching cricket though!

Re: Lancs League Saturday
Not me. I was (as you know) quite worried along the same lines as Bigbopper laid out in his post but having seen them this season I think we will be more than ok. Can't see us contesting the league as our strength in depth when players are unavailable isn't quite up to scratch in my opinion (as demonstrated on Saturday). However from what I have seen this season we will be very competitive and when at full strength we are as good as anybody in the league. Impressed with Tom Walker and young Henry Cottam has performed well too. I think we are a senior batsman light but in the circumstances we are doing ok.

Re: Lancs League Saturday
We've been in a very privileged position previously of a settled side with very little in and out, but that's not necessarily a good thing for progress and development. We've got some really exciting prospects in the seconds, thirds and fourths and I for one am really excited. As with any sport, there is going to be transition, but it's about giving people those chances and watching them bloom. I don't think you can always measure the clubs success in trophies anyway (and we're a prime example of that with 142 years without one). This league and especially the start the leagues had this year is as competitive as ever, with anyone beating anyone. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds this year.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 10:28 pmNot me. Re: Lancs League Saturday
Lowerhouse lost a game that could have gone either way right till the last over. The House were missing runs from the pro who failed with the bat again, before Hopey jumps to his defence I know he had a score in the T20.

Norden are struggling at Read in the Lancs knock out.
108 for 8. Need another 105 or so.
Read still aren't playing with a professional.

And in Sunday's division 2 games, another win for the mighty Colne! (OK, well, a win for the mighty Colne. First of the season.)
A winning partnership of 219 between pro Geeth Kumara (105*) and Alex White (100*). Possibly a first for Colne that two batsmen got centuries in the same innings.

Gutted I missed that. I'd be interested to see who the last amateur to score a century for us was. Bet you're going back a good few years.dsr wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:27 pmAnd in Sunday's division 2 games, another win for the mighty Colne! (OK, well, a win for the mighty Colne.
