Any rumours of team news for today?
Jay?
Mee?
4-4-2? 5-3-2?

Re: Team news.
I assume same team as thursday
Re: Team news.
I really cannot see any changes to the team that lines up. However, as it's the last game Jay, perhaps, might be on the bench to feature for ten minutes or so if we need to score at the end.
But really cannot see either magically fit again unfortunately.

Re: Team news.
I’d assume same team though I’d personally rather go 4-4-2 with Cornet on the left and Weghorst in for Long.

Cornet was limping and carrying a bag of ice after the game on Thursday
Re: Team news.
That would be a real set back, the only bit of pace / attacking flair in the team, we really struggled without him v Villa.Down_Rover wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:43 amCornet was limping and carrying a bag of ice after the game on Thursday
Im sure if it was just a knock he can have enough pain killers to get him through one game.

Cornet limps after every game. I think he's just that kind of guy. Sure he will be fine

Re: Team news.
Dont think I have seen him complete a game without hobbling or coming off since Wolves away.Any contact and he is injured. Would be great to have Jay in the squad as well as Mee and Pieters. Definitely start with the same team set up as Villa, keeping it very tight
Re: Team news.
Agreed. If we try and go toe to toe with Newcastle, we'll get tubbed.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:53 amDont think I have seen him complete a game without hobbling or coming off since Wolves away.Any contact and he is injured. Re: Team news.
St Maxim v Roberts has me rushing for the loo unfortunately. If Lowton was in and Roberts in front it would have been a good call, but that's not going to happen, so prepare for Roberts to be spun round and round and eventually spun into the ground like that machine they used to get out the pod under Thunderbird 2.

Re: Team news.
Will ASM play? it would make sense for Newcastle to rest him, he does tend to pick up niggling injuries, and there are rumours that he might be on the move this summer as part of their overhaul.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:37 amSt Maxim v Roberts has me rushing for the loo unfortunately. Re: Team news.
He is a threat to anyone, but I have more faith in Mike Jackson having at least discussed it with some precautions in place than I ever had in Dyche & Woan even focusing on it. Dont forget we kept Son & Kane quiet a week agoDark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:37 amSt Maxim v Roberts has me rushing for the loo unfortunately. Re: Team news.
I'm pretty sure they'll play him if he's fit, but I can also see him moving on in the summer as you allude to. Despite their new sugar daddies I believe he's far too good for a mediocre team like Newcastle and could see him playing for someone better either here or abroad next season.

Beardsley with Roberts right midfield.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:37 amSt Maxim v Roberts has me rushing for the loo unfortunately. Re: Team news.
I would have Bardsley instead of Long - just tactics rather than any slight on Long
Re: Team news.
Nothing against Bardsley but it would be strange starting him today considering he's barely played this season..

When ASM played against us in a pre season game a couple of years ago Bardsley scared the sh1t out of him

Re: Team news.
I wouldn't expect much, if any, change from the eleven who played at Villa. Whether Jay makes the bench or not, we'll know in a couple of hours.

Re: Team news.
If we play the same team / formation as we did against Villa, I would hope that just discussing the game with the players would improve our performance and I honestly think Villa are a better team than Newcastle, so fingers crossed, with home support a better game than Thursday night to settle the nerves.

Re: Team news.
Said on sky comms Thursday night that Ben Mee was hopeful to be involved today. Probably the bench but that's great cover.
Re: Team news.
No Cornet pre match video yet…

We need to go at this game all guns blazing as if only a win will do.
Leeds will be approaching their game as if they have to win, so we should have the same mindset.

Re: Team news.
Same starting 11 as the Villa game.
But we need to start a bit brighter without going gung-ho.
And get more possession!!

Definitely no Lowton, appeal failed by two votes to one according to Chris Boden.

Re: Team news.
Would much prefer Weghorst to start ahead of Ashley Barnes today.
We simply cannot afford a stupid red card this afternoon, and I don't think his comments about referees this week were wise.

Just as likely to see a red from Weghorst who has an issue with keeping his temper with officials.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 2:34 pmWould much prefer Weghorst to start ahead of Ashley Barnes today.

No idea which way Ripley voted but I'm surprised the panels are allowed to feature ex-players who used to play for rival clubs of the team appealing

When was the last time he was extremely fortunate not to receive a red card?nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 2:47 pmYou could equally ask: when was the last time that he was extremely fortunate not to receive a red card?

Not sure about the incident myself, but a good number on this site thought that he could have had a red onThursday evening, so if even some of our own supporters thought it was a red, then that makes him fortunate (IMO).

Re: Team news.
I'd go 442 today and try win the game, didn't like the approach at Villa, wasn't much pressure on the ball and we struggled to get it forward, coughed up alot of chances and openings and conceded 10+ corners.

5-3-2 then. Expected to be honest. Bench looks thin...

I'm glad it's the same lineup BUT our ball retention has to be better.
