Ben Mee
Time to know what’s going on here - is he staying or not? Surely an absolute no brainer from our perspective that we MUST move Heaven and Earth to get him signed up playing alongside Collins.
I am not sure a (currently injured) soon to be 33 year old centre back is at the top of Premier League teams transfer hitlists, and he strikes me as someone who’d want to stay. I really think we need clarity on this very quickly.

Good point.
Just what is going on with Ben Mee?

Re: Ben Mee
We desperately need him to stay but it doesn’t look promising.
Re: Ben Mee
Doesn’t feel like he’s in a position to make massive demands of the club with him likely having limited options. He’d certainly start for us and give us a solid CB pairing of him and Collins (if Collins isn’t sold!)

Re: Ben Mee
I'm not so sure. Older centre halves like Dawson and Evans have provided great service for West Ham and Leicester. I'd see Mee in their sort of bracket. Would love to keep him at the club though as you sayjedi_master wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:43 pmTime to know what’s going on here - is he staying or not? Re: Ben Mee
This would be the best signing we could realistically make imo.
I think the potential problem is he would be a superb signing for the clubs going up this season.

There really is an absolute avalanche of news due in the next few weeks isn’t there?
Manager, player contracts, academy and financial situation.
Can’t remember a time like it.

Good luck Ben.
Re: Ben Mee
Not sure he's good enough to get a move to the Prem. I think he'll end up staying.

Re: Ben Mee
Can see one of the newly promoted team offering him a very healthy 2 year contract that we probably won’t be able to.
Really hope he does sign but seems to be odds on he won’t.

I reckon he will sign a new deal with us.

Is he OOC?

Yes.
Re: Ben Mee
At this rate we'll have a centreback partnership of Long.

Re: Ben Mee
He won't last long until injured again with more games in the championship. If we do keep him it will be on the premise of signing someone else to come in when he inevitably gets injured.
But we need to keep who we can and when fit he'd be a real asset.
I personally can't see him moving on but a lot will depend on the manager I guess.

Re: Ben Mee
I'd be surprised if Mee moved on. I think he's intertwined in the fabric of the club and Claret and Blue runs through his veins. I too think him signing is going to be key to where we need to be.

Player coach role as I believe this is in his and our best interests. He's been a fantastic signing and has the potential to become a good manager

Re: Ben Mee
I'm not sure he's been offered anything though yet has he? Wasn't there a comment a while back saying that it all depended on which division we would be in?

We will not see Ben again if he felt the need to do that. His way of telling us just after yesterday
Re: Ben Mee
Doesn’t feel like he’s decided to leave to me. Just a captain thanking the fans for their support this season. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Don’t agree… he’s hurting as much as the fans and hasn’t committed either way on that video. We all know Tarks is off but he hasn’t confirmed yet either. Now is not the time for either but all will be resolved in the not too distant future.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 4:47 pmWe will not see Ben again if he felt the need to do that. His way of telling us just after yesterday

His twitter video exemplifies the class of the individual that is Ben Mee. He’s been the equivalent of our john terry

And about 15 other things, meant it in the leader - stalwart heart of a club, to be fair Mee is also respected by a lot of rival fans more than Terry ever would be

Re: Ben Mee
A club legend. CT has said previously that he’s not been offered a contract. I find that hard to believe, but I can only imagine it’s because he’s such a high earner that we couldn’t afford to retain without
Gut feel is that he’ll be offered a contract elsewhere and leave but I really hope he stays and helps get us back up. After 10 years loyalty to him, I hope he feels the same.

Losing Ben Mee would be another body blow to our chances of having a chance of challenging for promotion next season.

Re: Ben Mee
It’ll be a sad day when Ben leaves us, he’s been a fantastic player and ambassador for the club. I hope Alan pace can afford and will offer him a new contract, and we can keep him for a couple more years. But if he’s does leave good luck to him, he’s earned our gratitude and respect!

Re: Ben Mee
Doesn’t a lot depend on the new manager?
If we get someone who likes keepers to pass a goal kick five yards to their centre back, Ben will be off. Even a lot of lower division teams eschew the long hoof these days.
Hopefully with all the contract decisions we need to see who rocks up.

If your opening hand is that Mee's decision to stay will depend on how the goalkeeper delivers the ball you are clearly taking the almighty ****

Re: Ben Mee
Another who thinks that previous terms may be the single biggest stumbling block. I sadly expect him to be back in the Premier next season, but cannot blame him or begrudge him the move. Just hope we can find a package he can acccept - I too would like to see him coming through the backroom - a top notch manager in the making, who knows the club inside out.
