Callum WILSON

Post by Foreverly Claret » Mon May 23, 2022 9:41 am

Why are some footballers such incredible knob heads? After he took his excellent penalty why did he need to come and antagonise the fans in the JM lower..stupid grins and obscene hand gestures really winding us up in an already highly charged atmosphere .Why couldn't he just turn and make his way back to the centre circle ? Some of these celebrations ( ours included ) are getting out of hand .Sadly , he had the last laugh.

From what I saw he was celebrating with the Newcastle fans. Wilson isn't the type to give it large to the crowd, unless they were giving him ****.

He scored infront of the JML? Which fans was he celebrating with.

I don't understand such moronic behaviour either.

I totally get he'd want to score.....it's his job, for goodness sake. I'd expect more class though with him (and others) thinking, 'these are fellow professionals who I'm potentially relegating so no need for wild celebrations out of respect to those fellow pros'.

Sadly, that lack of class is probably just a wider reflection of society but a public show of respect for others would have been a good start to rectifying that. It wasn't to be from the classless Wilson (oh, and that goes to the majority of the Newcastle fans who were equally obnoxious).

If anybody is getting upset by a footballer's celebration..... they're probably focusing their disappointment at the wrong person.

Fans give it out so should be able to take it. But I’m not sure whether goading the Burnley fans by gesturing that we’re going down on such an emotionally charged day was a very good idea. Particularly in a week where we’ve seen numerous incidents of fans attacking players.

Barnes did exactly the same at Watford. I don't recall any posts criticizing him for it.

Wilson also purposefully kicked the ball in to the fans in the Longside Lower whilst grinning and winking. Knobhead.

Saw him kick the ball into the crowd. Really poor form that. Ref didn't clamp down on any of their antics all day.

Were you there? I was pretty close to his penalty celebrations. Ordinarily I'd laugh it off, but yesterday's really angered me.
It was such a charged game. The players in my opinion, have a responsibility not to incite the crowd. Or if they do, they shouldn't complain if the get verbals back later.

It was annoying, but didn't Barnes do the same at Watford? And he wasn't even the one that scored.

There were quite a few disrespectful actions from your players yesterday. I did fear what would happen to them if there was a pitch invasion.

Anyhow, enjoy your blood money. How many executions next week?

What disrespectful actions? Genuinely curious because I didn't see any. The one that seems to have rattled the most was Wilson's goal celebration where he didn't run to your fans, didn't make abusive gestures to them and didn't grin.

Executions in Saudi Arabia? Dunno, one would be too many. The Saudi regime is vile and they shouldn't be allowed to own a football club in England.

What surprised me the most was the attitude of the fans. For a club that has experienced enough relegations to know better there was an unwarranted amount of arrogance both before and after the match.

In fairness to Fish, admittedly the highlights that he has seen and posted a link to on the other thread don't show the full picture.

The initially celebration that it shows, doesn't show anything wrong, however what it doesn't show was him turning back to the crowd and reacting to it and appearing to mouth off at the fans

Player scores and then celebrates meh get over it every game I have ever been in that has involved goals the player that scored celebrated normally at the end they scored at Barnes did it against Watford for example.

Don't make excuses for him. Can't you tell he's a know all. If he says Wilson didn't celebrate the penalty in a cowardly way then that has to be good enough for us. Know your place in his world.

Ordinarily, yes. I think it's how close to this you actually are. When you can see their eyes, in such a crucial match, it's inciting.

I admit I don't normally sit so near the goals.

You're probably right, I didn't see anything wrong with the way Wilson celebrated, but I guess anything above meekly and mutely walking back to the centre circle would be seen as inciting. Not because it is, but because of what it meant for you.

But, I've been livid after relegation and I've taken offence at stuff which, on reflection, wasn't as bad as I thought. So it's unreasonable to expect that you wouldn't do similar.

To be honest we were giving him plenty from the JML trying to put him off and cheering on Pope. I wasn't to bothered by his celebration given how much we were giving him to miss. Part and parcel to be fair. Just wish he had missed it though.

Every replay I've seen he punches the air, salutes (as he always does), is mobbed by his teammates, then walks back to the centre circle.

It's not like he was Adebayor-ing it man.

I think some of our fans are being a little prissy. Why shouldn’t he celebrate, he owes us nowt. It was hardly Simon Garner scoring for West Brom and lifting his shirt to show us his Blackburn shirt underneath.

Elwa you are as opinionated as anyone else on here, does that make you a little prissy?

I don't think anyone has said he shouldn't celebrate scoring, the complaints are how he went about it in such a charged up atmosphere.

Despite what you might think at times, other opinions are just as "worthy" as yours whether you agree with them or not.

Can I be prissy? Probably, I make no excuse for it. Are others as worthy… undoubtedly. Did I see a player celebrating a goal in his usual manor or someone out to wind up Burnley fans… the former. Emotions are raw, my point is that bitching about an opposition striker who has been on a goal droubt is both pointless and misplaced, when we should be looking how to sort our own house out.

I’d have thought those in the lower tier, directly behind the goal would have been, just like any other time an opposing player has taken a penalty at that end

Class striker who knows where the net is when he is fully fit which he is now. Hard to stomach him scoring and he got away with his impudence because we couldn't hurt his team without Rodriguez and Vydra on the field.

They have players of his quality on the field and players of Woods quality on the bench.

We have players like Wood starting every game possible.

Not enough quality, although Wilson will always struggle to make it in a top team because he's injury prone.

How has Weghorst worked out for you? We were linked with him previously and obviously when we bought Wood for £25m, there was a real concern that you'd gone out and got a better player, for less.

Is there a player there who hasn't had chance to shine, or is he a bit limited?

Wilson is deadly, but unfortunately made of glass. He stays fit and he'll score 15-20 a season in a decent team. We need an upgrade if we want to finish top half.

I’d take a straight swap for Wood please
