Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
Firstly, apologies for a separate post.
Am I alone in thinking that we should have heard from Pace, by now?
We’ve just been relegated, we’re managerless, the financial position appears at best to be worrying, all is not well.
Now is surely the time for some strong leadership and communication.

I suppose the optimistic view is that if he's going to announce a manager in the next couple of days, now wouldn't be the time to speak.

Speaking now would be poorly received, the town is in mourning. He needs to appear by the end of the week with a plan and th manager that will be trusted to implement it. We’ve all been told by various sources interviews are concluded and action plans drawn… early this week they need to be actioned, so we can go into the summer looking forward, not downcast and looking at what we’ve lost.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:03 pmI suppose the optimistic view is that if he's going to announce a manager in the next couple of days, now wouldn't be the time to speak.

Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
Totally agree with the OP, for a Chairman who was promoting how important we were to the town and community he has been amazingly quiet since the dismissal of SD. I am fed up today of hearing on every bit of sports punditry the regurgitated message that our club is in a terrible state financially and we are heading for Division 1 with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday. I am not expecting him to explain why we were relegated but some form of confidence in the welfare of the club and our short term plans for a new manager, OOC's, new players etc. But above all some recognition of Jacksons efforts in the last 7 games is simply good management and costs him fa to do. After all he is sitting on money people have paid for new season tickets .Its the very least he can do as the owner of our club
Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
I'd expect something in the next few days.
Addressing: the date they expect to appoint a manager by - where the process is at right now, what they are doing about all the OOC players - are they deciding or they want a new manager in first, finances - not expecting great detail here but some assurance as to what the strategy is this summer, for example an estimate on how many players they anticipate to leave, are they planning on making a big effort to bounce straight back up via automatic or will they be happy with play offs.

Exactly this. If he’d have been issuing statements there would have been fans on his back claiming it’s all about him and it’s a publicity stunt. I get that fans don’t like the uncertainty but let’s wait and see what the next few weeks bring.

..accepted but we have been without a full time manager since Good Friday. The great majority of clubs in a similar situation will always comment about who is acting manager, and provide a time frame for the new one

I think there were a few very good reasons that we didn’t make an announcement about a time frame for the new manager; our very perilous league position, the good job that Jackson was doing, and the constantly shifting scenario.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:17 pm..accepted but we have been without a full time manager since Good Friday. The great majority of clubs in a similar situation will always comment about who is acting manager, and provide a time frame for the new one

What a lot of hyperbole.
Is it common for chairpeople to speak directly to the supporters less than twenty-four hours since relegation? Did Norwich do it? Watford?
What do you want him to say?

I think we need something from him over the course of the week. Candidly, and in as much detail as possible, addressing:

- any impacts on ownership
- the manager search
- out of contract situation
- any other (hopefully positive) developments we may not be aware of…

Agreed and being an avid reader of this Board I know Pace has a credibility issue with supporters. Its the easiest thing in the world to do sweet FA, and its ok posters saying that Norwich have not posted anything. But they dont have a credibility issue with their owners, and they have not recently fired their manager.Norwich fans know the club is financially strong, having made several lucrative sales recently. They are in good shape to push for promotionNewClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:27 pmI think we need something from him over the course of the week. It’s going to be a long summer if this is how people are reacting already.
It should be an exciting summer, new manager, high player turnover and all the things that fans can usually get excited by.
However a section of our fan base are going to analyse and pick holes in everything.

Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
If you are referring to calls for Pace to make a statement, then I fully agree. However, time is of the essence we need to be getting positive action this week to lift the gloom and get our ducks in a row well ahead of next season, if we are to bounce back without a relegation hangover.
Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
Why do we need it? It wouldn't just be fans watching it. "Oh yeah, we're skint by the way." West Ham trim five million from their Pope bid. "We've almost agreed terms with X to be our manager." Y was under impression he was still in negotiations. Crude examples but you get the point. For similar reasons you never heard Dyche speak about transfers and he was roundly praised by Burnley fans for that cards close to chest stance.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:27 pmI think we need something from him over the course of the week. Truth is, as fans we can never know as much as we want to know. And that's the way it should be.
I have no need right now to watch a three minute video of Alan Pace to appease my dissatisfaction in relegation.

I don’t know about anyone else but there is absolutely nothing ALK could say right now that would be of interest to me. Give it a few days to die down, get a new manager in by the start of June then the promotion battle begins.

Tbf Fulham do regularly.
And it’s a completely different situation. I don’t see Norwich or Watford being in national media today about the state of the club.

Not too many examples then. I remember the Villa CEO (I think CEO) speaking last summer about Grealish leaving. Those interviews happen and Pace will do one again when the time's right. He would be slated and scrutinised today if he popped up with a message on the socials. Even saying something positive about next season would be used against him. So what's the point? I'm not defending him, I just think some of the reaction is way, way over the top. Let the dust settle, wait until there's some solid news to report.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:48 pmTbf Fulham do regularly.

Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
There's some real proper half-wits out there demanding he speaks and talking about their "rights" to know the financial position etc.
We're about to go into a firesale. The last thing we need right now is other clubs knowing the finer details on our financial position. We need to max our revenue and there are going to be some hard bargains that have to happen in various areas.
I hope we don't hear from Pace for a few days. I hope he's taking a breath and planning the next steps carefully and without worrying about some of our armchair business experts who wouldn't know one end of a balance sheet from the other.

According to some football journalists yesterday he would be spending today with his Leeds counterpart at an emergency meeting of the PL in London.
As regards the manager role I would expect that a head coach will be sought. AiScout will identify targets and upon acquisition it will be the coach's responsibility to integrate them into the football squad training regime and tactics.

Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
Yeah there's not going to be any statement about OC players, aims on incoming, finances or impact on ownership- if that's what you expect you should put that out of your head now. Aside from the fact that it rather weakens your hand in any negotiations (as Pickles said) it's just not going to happen - let's be honest the form here of our owners isn't for being really open.
We might get some vague statements about ambitions and bouncing back at the earliest opportunity and some about ensuring we have the right playing stagf etc but nothing concrete.
Maybe more clarity once stuff is agreed (eg who the actual manager IS or who's moving on etx) although likely by then ut will vecommon knowledge!

I know what's in the public domain. I know MSD have said they want a 65m payment soon. I don't know exactly when that is.
I know the only way we can raise that kind of money is by selling some of our assets unless you're aware of another option now we've just lost our PL status? Do tell.

They know what is in the public domain for sure but they don't know the desperation levels - none of us do.
If you're in debt up to your eyeballs it's generally not a good idea to give your creditors more information to screw you with. We're already not in a position of strength so why risk making that even weaker.

You have your view, which is fine, though I’d add that at no point did I express a right to know the financial position, but it is an ongoing concern that is understandably increasing, following relegation.
You may be right that it would be better to leave it a few days, but time is not on our side, this summer. Alan needs to be working as his name suggests, with Pace.

Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
There's a quick turnaround and people are right to point that out. But just because Pace isn't sat in front of some moody lighting talking to Phil Bird or whichever work experience person it is this week, it doesn't mean he isn't doing any work. You don't have weekly updates about Tesco swapping their banana supplier. I know we're fans and it's a passionate, invested thing. But it's also a massive, complex business.
Re: Alan….? Alan….? Are you there, Alan?
Isn't he supposed to be at a emergency meeting with the premier league today. So maybe he is a tad busy today.
