Bardsley gone

Post by Milltown1882 » Mon May 23, 2022 8:52 pm

It’s 2022 so naturally it’s confirmed by his mrs on instagram but quoted as ‘sad to see the chapter end’.

Probably go with Rooney to be a coach.

Makes sense for him to go into coaching, and I think he's done his badges, or is at least in the process of doing them, a decent signing who always performed solidly, but the time is right for him to go.

I've never been on Instagram, so don't know how it's posted.... Could she not mean our stay in the Premier league is over?

No she put it was their last day there, emotional day and thanked everyone (including fans). Finished with a sentence about chapter ending.

TBF, he's hardly had to in the last 12 months.
Anyone can see he's surplus regardless of his past efforts.

Think it was West Ham’s Felipe Anderson he once put a ‘strong’ early tackle in on at the turf and Anderson didn’t fancy it from then leading to an early substitution!

great player. I can't imagine too many relished playing on his side of the pitch. The players report how he i vocal in the dressing room.... not sure where he is with his coaching badges, but from the sound of that post it doesn't seem to be an option

I wish we could have signed Bardsley 10 years ago. Proper player.

Still as fit as anything and put in some great shifts for us. He'll hopefully have a good career in coaching ahead of him now.

Top pro, seems a good lad as well. As someone else stated, he’s exactly the sort of player I’d want, character and work rate, had a brilliant career!
It’s a shame there aren’t many like him anymore

I don’t think so, I’m sure a couple of them play at academy’s though, I’m sure I watched a video of one of them a few months back playing for someone like Stoke, looked very good

Think perhaps we could have done with him on the pitch yesterday. It would have been interesting to see him up against Saint-Maximin.

For a side that relegated one booking was a bit poor.

He's had an excellent career and although he was a bit-part player he seems to typify the Dyche era.

All the best to him.

Last of a dying/dead breed of full back. Defender first and foremost with the edge of aggression. You have to be tough enough to play before you can play against him as per the Anderson post above. Unfortunately you can’t play like that anymore (mores the pity).
Good servant and I always thought he gave a f!?k. Thanks for your service

Good professional and you could see him being passionate despite being on the bench and we rarely had anything to moan about him when on the pitch. I hope he is successful in whatever he does now he is moving on.

I’ve a lot of time for Bardsley - proved to be a good signing for us.

If he’s going, as he obviously is and you’d expect, why do the club not confirm it? They’ve still not told us about the 18 year olds who have been released and the club website is still showing Ally Beattie & Martin Hodge on the staff list.

Remember that so well, it was crunching. He'd been their star man for the previous 3 games, didn't want to know after that tackle.

Solid signing, good pro, but the time is right to move on.

The club may not have announced it yet for plenty of reasons - contract still not officially ended, legal things, just dotting the i's and crossing the t's on certain admin issues etc. I can't imagine Tanya Bardsley is one to hang fire and wait for this kind of thing.

Enjoyed watching him play for us - a proper player was Bardsley and he’s had a really good career. Always seemed a good bloke who tried to get the best out of people around him, can see him moving into coaching elsewhere.

I like sticking to the policy/procedure, I find you don’t end up in sticky situations if you do! It also takes away the emotions of a situation.

We will report inline with the Premier Leagues 4 day requirement.

Roughly, there is a requirement that each club has to report their retained list four days after the end of the season or by a set date in the month.

This is club wide and involved all those contracted.

Loved watching him sort attackers out!
Ideal fit for Burnley. It is what we like - honest football and commitment to the cause.

His attitude and reaction to that cause, these ladt weeks, has been phenomenal. Lived every moment.

Thank you Mr Bardsley, for being a Claret.

I think the thread and repossess are in line with a players contractual status being released into the mainstream media prior to the club releasing the information. There was then dissenting voices about the club not releasing information to the fan base. The club are acting professionally and following policy and procedure.

Hypothetically, if a companies website identifies someone as an employee, and you remove that employee prior to the contractual obligations it could be perceived as evidence towards constructive dismissal.

Tell you what, the resident football expert extraordinaire is very rarely wrong on football, I must hold my hands up on this rare occasion and admit, I was wrong on Bardsley at the time of his signing. Never once let us down, infact I'd argue he was above Lowton at certain periods. Having seen training footage, seems to be a great character, a character the team will probably miss around the place. Thanks Phil and Good luck in the future sir.

I like sticking to the policy/procedure, I find you don’t end up in sticky situations if you do! It also takes away the emotions of a situation.

We will report inline with the Premier Leagues 4 day requirement.
It's a pity that such a fervent love of procedure and policy doesn't extend to those charged with the management of our Academy.

A year ago we were well positioned to receive long term confirmation of our Category 1 status. The receipt of a temporary status allocation gave us plenty of time to put everything in place to pass the enhanced audit that was recently undertaken.

Given the importance that Pace prescribed to the Academy in terms of our developing future surely this should have been a priority. The outward appeal of Category 1 would certainly serve as a very valuable draw factor in the pursuit of young talent that might be able assist us in our new Championship endeavours.

However, we are now hearing reports that losing our Category 1 accreditation is a real possibility. The only obvious difference between now and a year ago is the departure of Jon Pepper. Over the course of his 5 years with the club Jon Pepper dragged the Academy up from a pile of wreckage to within touching distance of Category 1, becoming a master of the Academy audit system in the process.

His replacement was Paul Jenkins, whose only comparable experience was less than a year running the football academy of a secondary school, which came on the back of over two decades as a youth team coach.

You are obviously eager to insert yourself into discussions about the staffing decisions at the club, sprinkling your answers with the allusion of at least some inside knowledge. In respect to that would you be gracious enough to enlighten us with your perspective on the apparent devolution of standards within our Academy over the past year ?

Should we lose our Category 1 status do you think it will coincide with the sacking of Paul Jenkins or do you think he is more likely to do the honourable thing and quit ?

Or would you lay the blame firmly at the feet of Alan Pace and his decision to sack Dyche and a large contingent of our backroom staff. A move, along with previous departures, that led to Academy staff being moved up to first team duties, resulting in a staff deficiency within the Academy ?
