Re: What a difference 15 months makes !!!!
It doesn't have to be that bad Kenyon, I'm a little bit on the fence with Pace, none of us know the truth of the deal and he seems to want to do well for the club. However that aside, if he and the board box clever we can bounce straight back and hopefully learn from some of our mistakes, the first thing is to get the right manager and quick, then we should pull out all the stops to keep 8/9 players simply by calling them in and convincing them that it's paramount we bounce straight back and in order to do so it's also paramount we keep those players, it's clear that Pope will go which should ease the dept situation obviously, Tarkowski will be off the wage bill, and we can be replaced with somebody on less, we need to keep the nucleus. 9 ooc, of which we need to keep 5, Cork, vydra, Mee, Pieters and Barnes. Their obviously not Premier league players if we go back up, but will do a great job in the championship given the situation we're in. Add to that McNeil, cornet, Weghorst, Collins, Roberts, Lowton, Rodriguez is obviously here for a further 12 month, turns out now that's not such a bad idea. With a few free transfers mentioned on another thread ie Lawrence, swift, Wallace, we could absolutely rip the championship up. But in answer to the thread title absolutely agree, have faith, utc's.

And playing in the Championship will be like going from the Olympic 100 metres final to competing in your local egg and spoon race.

Well , I have to say I like your optimism...it's in short supply at the moment .What we don't know is how much demand there will be for our players and what clauses their contracts contain re wages on relegation etc .As you say , Jay Rod will be staying which I feel is good news but some of the others look a bit iffy...we shall see .Some of those mentioned as possible retainees would be formidable in the Championship BUT they'll need to be .There are some very good ,fit ,hard teams down there and over 46 games it'll be TOUGH. We did it before...under a great manager...check out our last Championship season results.I'm not living in the past..if most of those mentioned do stay we must have a very good chance.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:15 amIt doesn't have to be that bad Kenyon, I'm a little bit on the fence with Pace, none of us know the truth of the deal and he seems to want to do well for the club. Re: What a difference 15 months makes !!!!
I agree FC, optimism is in very short supply and I'm still hurting like we all are, but I really do think it's paramount if we have aspirations of coming straight back it's paramount we keep a nucleus of which imo I've mentioned in my post, most teams that come back up keep the majority of the team together, ie Norwich, Bournemouth, Fulham, and we need to do the same. I've watched quite a bit of the Championship on sky this season, there's really not much to fear imo, it's been poor, we can do this but as I say with the right manager and by boxing clever.Foreverly Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:33 amWell , I have to say I like your optimism...it's in short supply at the moment .What we don't know is how much demand there will be for our players and what clauses their contracts contain re wages on relegation etc .As you say , Jay Rod will be staying which I feel is good news but some of the others look a bit iffy...we shall see .Some of those mentioned as possible retainees would be formidable in the Championship BUT they'll need to be .There are some very good ,fit ,hard teams down there and over 46 games it'll be TOUGH. Re: What a difference 15 months makes !!!!
While most will blame the whole thing on the garlick/pace duo, not sure which should be apportioned most of the blame, I believe in some form dyche had some sort of input, not necessarily financially but with the antics leading up to the deal, lots of things went on behind the scenes I believe. Although not quite sure what can have happened with the academyForeverly Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:37 amMind boggling .You couldn't make it up .How did it happen ?

As I stated under the heading of what will the lasting legacy of ALK be on 31st January and 31st March:
Relegation, substantial debt, flashing lights, and AiScout.
All that is needed now for the legacy to come to pass is for ALK to saddle up and ride off into the sunset and I have the feeling it will not be too long. It would be ironic if the shares revert back to MG and JB, but sadly with no golden pay off for them, only debt transfer. The club was starved of transfer / development funds to feed and secure their own financial futures. What goes round comes round. It is an absolute traversty.

Re: What a difference 15 months makes !!!!
This is so true. How did we go from a steadily run club that did not take financial risks to this in such a short period of time? We have gone from a business model that was praised and admired to a state of financial ruin in break neck speed. I can only assume that the risk was taken to take the club forward but it has instead lead to relegation.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 9:29 am42 Million in bank

The only trouble with stating facts about the finances are they were 12 months ago in the accounts. Nobody knows the current balance or debts.kenyon6923 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 9:29 am42 Million in bank

Re: What a difference 15 months makes !!!!
It just shows what effect it has on the club when the owner takes out £112m and gives nothing in return. No new players, no interest on the loan, no plan to repay it.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 11:18 amThis is so true.
