Hello-hooray, what a nice day, for Egan Riley, Egan Riley
If this comes off I'll be singing the Jam song
Vydra looked like the weight of the world was on him because he knew that the "chance" he had was probably the only one he was going to get in 2 games, hopefully Kompany's team will create a lot more chances. Don't forget, there was once a joke about Andy Cole at Newcastle and Man Utd that despite the fact he scored loads he only converted 1 in 7 chances.
Only got 12 months on his contract, but I agree he'd be a coup at that money.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:35 pmWhy so cheap Plays for England U-19's, played 3 times for them last season including in the Champions League.
Sounds mental that, in a good way, obviously. I assume City will have a buy-back clause in there like they did the keeper who went to Southampton.
Aye liking what im hearing.
Whilst I fully agree with you - I think the balance is already there on the experienced side. We don't need any old heads when we have Cork, Jay, Barnes, Hennessey, Lowton, Long, Westwood, Gudmundsson for me. The team is full of 'been there, done it' types that the younger lads we're bringing in can get that knowledge and will to win from.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:43 pmWe need to get the balance between youth and experience right
We needed a rebuild and it looks and sounds good, but its a tough balance to get right
Already a lot of experience in the existing squad.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:43 pmWe need to get the balance between youth and experience right

So you will know Simon Crampton I bet, he has been there for yearslouieollie wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:43 pmOh god no lol, I don't profess to be in the know I just have connections with Don's having been a scout there myself so on this occasion I had exciting info that I wanted to share with fellow clarets ...........nothing more than that.

Looking on Twitter, a lot of City fans rate him. Said he played for them in the Champions League and looked very good. (Egan Riley, not Alan Nixon)
Yes I saw the same.
Seems crackers that they'd sell. I read he has 12 months left on his contract, but as if City need to be bothered about that.
Good point, I think he has something to offer us for sure, not convinced he'd score 20+ though.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:39 pmVydra looked like the weight of the world was on him because he knew that the "chance" he had was probably the only one he was going to get in 2 games, hopefully Kompany's team will create a lot more chances. Give Vydra more chances and he will score more.
It sounds too cheap to be true.
Not according to Nixon. He said another 400k due in add ons down the track. Doubt he’d update the story so quickly if it wasn’t accurate.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 4:15 pmIt sounds too cheap to be true.
Could we be paying 350k to loan him for the season. I've no idea, but it sounds more realistic.
Yeah that's a problem too. Still think we need a 20+ almost sure thing striker, not sure how many of those are about and available however. Adam Armstrong was apparently available, think that would be a very smart loan move. Piroe hit 22 for Swansea last season.
I do sort of agree that loans can be a temporary fix however (I'm going back some time) you look at the likes Tripps and Mee who came in and were eventually made permanent, that loan period can help you in making them permanent additions. A more recent example is Harrison at Leeds. It's hard to imagine that all these young players will make it at City, there's evey chance we take one or two for a season and they are deemed surplus next year leaving us in the ideal spot to snap them up.DCWat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 1:40 pmI’m not opposed to loans - in moderation. I don’t really see them as solving a problem, more putting a plaster over it / providing a temporary fix.
Most will likely be starters (not much point otherwise) and unless we are purchasing youngsters in their positions to ultimately bring through, the can is still being kicked.
I don’t mean that to sound negative - I’ve thought that we should use the loan market much more than we have done in recent years.
Viktor Gyokeres for me - 17 last season for a pretty average Coventry side, looked great each time I saw him on TV. Swedish international (7 caps 2 goals) and only just turned 24. No idea what he would cost, but he's a clever, mobile, skilful player who is deceptively quick to say he's 6'2.KRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 4:24 pmYeah that's a problem too. A foreign one I'd fancy is Lois Openda he's seemingly hated at Club Brugge but knocking them in on loan in Holland at Vitesse, 22 year old Belgian striker, just made his debut for Belgium and scored too.
Zian Flemming fired Fortuna Sittard to avoid relegation in Holland last season, youngster but more of a 10 than out and out striker. Looks like he's off to Millwall for £3.5m. Surprised PSV didn't pounce to replace Zahavi.
I've already mentioned Muleka previously, now he's linked. I thought he had a 4 mill euro release clause, no idea why the Turkish club didn't activate it?
Piroe fits the bill for me given his experience in England already, I have no idea on Openda's situation with Vitesse maybe they have an agreement to keep him.
Think he's off to Fulham alreadyjedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 4:30 pmViktor Gyokeres for me - 17 last season for a pretty average Coventry side, looked great each time I saw him on TV. Wout Weghorst has reached an agreement with Besiktas.
Besiktas loaned him from Burnley for this season.
Paperworks time, official soon.

I certainly never want to see him in a Burnley shirt again. Even if he scores 40 this season.
I know a bullshitter when I see one, it just pains folklouieollie wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:43 pmOh god no lol, I don't profess to be in the know I just have connections with Don's having been a scout there myself so on this occasion I had exciting info that I wanted to share with fellow clarets ...........nothing more than that.

We’d never have him back, I bet we end up making more from pimping him out
I’m on your side, stating I believed you all along. I believe anyone until they’re proving a bullshitter, I’ve zero paranoia

So all he'll have to do is tuck them away...simple.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 4:56 pmWW will have Burnley legend Georges-Kévin Nkoudou laying them on a plate for him.
Yeah, time to chill, 5 weeks left yet. Most players on their jollies.
I think Pep wants to sign the England team. Walker, Phillips, Sterling, Grealish, Foden and wanted Kane.clarethomer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 5:37 pmDavid Ornstein reporting Kalvin Phillips signing for Man City for £42m
I have faith again, mainly because the owners name isn’t Mike Garlick.Top Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:20 pmPlenty of talk as per but still no signings.
I won't believe one Iota of the the speculation until the person is an actual claret. We have been let down and hoodwinked by the last owners so many times over the years that I have little optimism
