Whilst I fully agree with you - I think the balance is already there on the experienced side. We don't need any old heads when we have Cork, Jay, Barnes, Hennessey, Lowton, Long, Westwood, Gudmundsson for me. The team is full of 'been there, done it' types that the younger lads we're bringing in can get that knowledge and will to win from.

There is experience in the squad, but not really in central defence, which is arguably where you want it more than anywhere else. Ideally I think we'd pair Collins with an older head, but we could be looking at 3-4 new defenders if he gets sold.

Experience and quality young players are exactly what you need to get out of the championship. Both compliment each other superbly. We really do need a striker who is ready to go in to the starting 11 and possibly a winger depending on who goes/stays.

The captain who delivered the noisy neighbours title that catapulted them to the top level. We do seem to be rumoured to be getting some incredible deals and, let’s be honest, they worry about money about as much as NUFC do.

Add that to Kompany’s playing experience that can rub off on our players (central midfield too let’s not forget, it was Mancini who converted him). That makes it an interesting time ahead.

A foreign one I'd fancy is Lois Openda he's seemingly hated at Club Brugge but knocking them in on loan in Holland at Vitesse, 22 year old Belgian striker, just made his debut for Belgium and scored too.

Zian Flemming fired Fortuna Sittard to avoid relegation in Holland last season, youngster but more of a 10 than out and out striker. Looks like he's off to Millwall for £3.5m. Surprised PSV didn't pounce to replace Zahavi.

I’m not opposed to loans - in moderation. I don’t really see them as solving a problem, more putting a plaster over it / providing a temporary fix.

Most will likely be starters (not much point otherwise) and unless we are purchasing youngsters in their positions to ultimately bring through, the can is still being kicked.

I don’t mean that to sound negative - I’ve thought that we should use the loan market much more than we have done in recent years.

I do sort of agree that loans can be a temporary fix however (I'm going back some time) you look at the likes Tripps and Mee who came in and were eventually made permanent, that loan period can help you in making them permanent additions. A more recent example is Harrison at Leeds. It's hard to imagine that all these young players will make it at City, there's evey chance we take one or two for a season and they are deemed surplus next year leaving us in the ideal spot to snap them up.

Viktor Gyokeres for me - 17 last season for a pretty average Coventry side, looked great each time I saw him on TV. Swedish international (7 caps 2 goals) and only just turned 24. No idea what he would cost, but he's a clever, mobile, skilful player who is deceptively quick to say he's 6'2.
