One of the main Belgian media outlets reporting the same interest in Josh Cullen and Enock Agyei that Chris Boden reported earlier.

Andy Jones from the Athletic now reporting the Muleka and Bastien deals are progressing and expected to complete next week - few details still to be finalised.

And if we'd signed Gray from Luton, he'd have been a failure?
I think the point is that we are signing players without any Championship experience at the very least. An unknown variable going into this season.

The likes of Gray had experience of playing in the Championship before signing for us.

That's why having excellent recruitment in place is key, to pick these players up BEFORE they make a name for themselves and are suddenly in the 10m+ bracket. Toney was picked up by Brentford for 8m, fired them to the PL and now would be a 30m+ sale.

Would be nice to get the CJ E-R and THB deals announced, assuming they are actually happening. Feels like they’re dragging on a bit.

Nixon just reported that THB has been on holiday but has now returned and will be signing for us. Add that to CJ’s contract at City only just expiring overnight and you can see the ‘delay’. He added the clubs have been negotiating the sell on clause for CJ.

Exactly! we've forked out £5m for Twine, but if he has a good Championship season, and plays his part in a promotion campaign, then we'll be able to demand £15-20m from any interested clubs, with a decent sell on at the same time.

30m+ is a hell of a fee for a 12 goal PL striker. Newcastle prices.

Nixon reporting both as pretty much done. THB been on his hols, CJ E-R signing after City contract expired.

These have been fairly assured for a while is my guess.

Does anyone actually know if Muleka and Bastien are actually any good? I've never heard of them until now.
I've watched the YouTube clips but we all know these can be misleading.

To be fair, if I had to downsize from a Lambo to a Ferrari I’d be distraught :D

But, yes, maybe I should have written “relatively” before “low wages”

It doesn't matter, he's Brazilian, so he's instantly worth 50m+

Bastien is one hell of a player, Liverpool almost signed him and his club turned down 12 million wanting 20 from teams like West Ham, a lot of clubs wanted him this window but Kompany was the pull for him to sign for Burnley his knock down price of 800k is because his contract has run down, personally I think he'll be our best signing this window

A small part of a news story from when he was younger

Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Belgian wonderkid Samuel Bastien, according to reports in Italy.

The 19-year-old Anderlecht starlet has been on the Reds’ radar ever since he broke into the club’s first team last season.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Serie B side Avellino, where he has scored twice in 24 appearances and Juventus, Roma and Fiorentina are all currently considering a move to sign him this summer.

We’re not picking up £8m potential players….. we’re picking up €2-3m potential players. We’re picking them up at an earlier stage in their development, which means that whilst they may progress to the levels we all hope, it’s likely to take longer than the aforementioned players.

Twine is 4-5m and had more goal contributions last season than Toney did when Brentford picked him up.

Would you rather we paid 8m for him?

This

Everyone is talking like we will make money on these players

If it was that simple, everyone would be doing it

Its a big rebuilding job here, and I support the way we are doing it, but we need to dial down the rhetoric a bit on how "good" these players are going to be

It could be argued that many of these players have already made a name for themselves in their respective divisions before bigger clubs decide to buy them. Ollie Watkins was the EFL Young Player Of The Year at Exeter in 2016/17 before being signed by Brentford and Scott Twine was the League One Player of the Season last campaign. It is just a question of them adapting to a higher level but they are hardly "under the radar".

Seems to be being reference a lot.

With Dyche, you always got the feeling that the recruitment department had a list of names and they let him pick off it, like he was never really fully trusted to seek out and request who he wanted.

Kompany seems to have personally called everyone and their nans about coming to Burnley.

I would rather we were targeting players, who have potential, but are further into their development. Like Gray, Collins, Tarkowski, Gibson.... I would like us to build on the, under appreciated by many, foundations of the side from last year, with players who improve it. Not to use them as the experience to allow us to bed in new players for 2-3 years, in the hope the club can get back to where it was until recently.

Why? Wage bill has been reduced dramatically, through clauses, and leavers. Some funds have been raised already through the sale of Nick Pope and exit of Carthorst, and there was funds remaining from Wood's transfer.

Not even sure it’s anything to do with that. The one we signed when we were in the Champ, Gray, would quite probably cost considerably more for an equivalent these days. We we had a premier league income when we signed the others.

I think the difference is, outside of matchday Dyche wasn't a football man. He freely admitted that he didn't have an interest in the game outside of the job. I don't think that is something that players who are passionate about the game want to hear.

Two of the players you mention moved for the Premier league with their championship club not being able to keep them.

We simply let too many go (much needed) to be bringing in 10m plus signings. Unless our big stars get sold for big money we won't have the funds.

Excellent keeper
I don't think many Forest fans would agree with you.

I hope you're right. Makes you wonder why any other clubs weren't in for him for only 800k Euros if what you say is correct.....

I think the difference is, outside of matchday Dyche wasn't a football man. He freely admitted that he didn't have an interest in the game outside of the job. I don't think that is something that players who are passionate about the game want to hear.
He didn't sound like he didn't have an interest. Lots of players signed for Burnley because Dyche was manager.

Burnley working on a deal to sign Muric from City according to David Ornstein at the Athletic
If he’s from City, he’s going to be able to use his feet and play out from the back. I’m assuming that’s why VK is looking at him, despite us not necessarily needing a keeper with Hennessy and BPF.

Sounds like he was poor at Forest but very good last season in Turkey. Main thing for me is that Kompany wants him, that’ll do.

Kosovo's number 1, Kosovo's, Kosovos number 1

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Lots of potential walking through the door and players with clear ability.

As VK has said. It’s going to take time to develop and getting the best out of the group will take time.

No point comparing Dyche v Kompany - when you are in PL
and trying to maintain that status, it’s a different player and way of thinking that is needed compared to when you are trying to rebuild:

There will be players who we wouldn’t have attracted/identified under Dyche and that era but there won’t be players attracted to VK.

It’s not about who is the better at recruiting as it’s like comparing apples and oranges.

VK will find a way and then stick to it just like Dyche did.

Just looking forward now to seeing how he does

He went on loan has a 20 year old and was brought in almost at the same time as Samba the permanent keeper, they can hardly judge him on 4 games
