You can't help but think the agents must be responsible for links like this. Brownhill is a decent player but I don't see any established Premier League clubs seeing him as a solution in their midfield. You never know though, I suppose.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 1:34 pmhttps://www.90min.com/posts/southampton ... -brownhill

Controlling the game? lol he must be near the very bottom of the successful passes list.

For interest to turn into a sale there is a long and complicated journey to follow.
Like many of Nixon's 'interested' type stories we know that many don't progress.
You have to assume that when VK talks about having a core of experience players and making sure that team solidarity remains first and foremost, I just can't see how all these players below that apparently have 'interest' which now means its only a matter of time before they go will achieve this.
- Collins
- Brownhill
- Cornet
- McNeill
- Roberts
Its always unnerving that our players are being linked but can't see us letting all of these go in next few weeks.

Surely the proof of all this is when he played for England. He couldn't do it. The whole England defence was panicking more then it usually did because they, and the opposition, knew his limitations. His best passes were when he hoofed it up field for Kane to run onto (in the last England game I saw with Pope playing).Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 9:51 amIf you keep telling people to play safe, you're not good enough, they won't have much confidence
Just look at Tarky in his Brentford days, as a ball playing CH. He soon lost that tag at Burnley.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I read something at lunch that said before Wolves come calling for Collins and Roberts, they are expecting some outgoings to fall into place.

And in the one game he played against decent opposition (Poland), it was his poor initial pass to Stones which led to Poland scoring - yes it was a Stones mistake but it was also a very poor pass from Pope.

Burnley expect Dwight McNeil and Maxwel Cornet to leave the club this summer amid transfer interest from Tottenham.
It has also been claimed that ‘half the Premier League‘ are looking at the duo, by journalist Dean Jones.

Isn’t it mad how most of our first 11 are wanted by Prem teams, but we were so s*** for the majority of the past two seasons?
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
"Very poor" is a bit strong. "Less than perfect", I will grant you. But Stones still had time for three touches to get it under control, and it was only because he wasn't able to do that that the Pole took it off him.

Perhaps these teams see the players mentioned purely as back ups who they can pick up relatively cheaply.

If we are going to sell any of them ‘cheaply’ then questions have to be asked about whether we are serious about promotion this season, or is it just a case of paying off most of the debts and trying to rebuild slowly.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 2:44 pmPerhaps these teams see the players mentioned purely as back ups who they can pick up relatively cheaply.

Cheaply for somebody like Spurs could be Dwight for £15 to £20 million.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I guess with Cornet we know it'll be £17.5m. But with McNeil, it'll be interesting to see if we get a decent price or sell on the cheap as we did with Pope. McNeil is English which often carries a premium and young. For me, compared to what other players have gone for, he's £25 million-plus. As well as a nice 20% sell-on. Otherwise, keep him for 12 months and if we don't go up, then sell. I doubt his price will go down, especially if he has a great season.

We might be selling our players cheap but the Hospitality boxes are still being sold at 50k plus VAT
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We should only be selling if a ridiculous offer comes in ie 25-30m.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 2:53 pmCheaply for somebody like Spurs could be Dwight for £15 to £20 million.
His value is not going to go down over this season, in fact if he bosses the Champ, which I expect he will, it will only add to his value.
Plus he’s integral to our promotion chances.

I think we, as Burnley fans, value McNeil way too highly. He's never going to be a decent Premier League player. He's just too one-footed unfortunately. If he went for 15 million I wouldn't be disappointed.

I’d hope we can keep McNeil. His value will increase after a good season in the Champ.

Well if he’s wanted by half the Prem, it makes you wonder if we rate him ‘too highly’.SalouClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:03 pmI think we, as Burnley fans, value McNeil way too highly. It’s funny how different posters have such differing views on players, plus those they want to keep and those they’re not bothered about if they leave.
For me Brownhill is one of the players we should be trying our best to keep. He’s going to be more influential than a lot of the players who played last season, McNeil included. Dwight to get noticed by a “top half” premiership team will have to stop being such a one sided player, after a while they become easier to read and play against.

Agreed with Brownhill and McNeil. Cornet, I've resigned myself to losing. Roberts is another I think we should keep and Collins obvs. Keep it at selling Cornet and I'm sure we could bring in a couple of players.clive40golf wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:28 pmIt’s funny how different posters have such differing views on players, plus those they want to keep and those they’re not bothered about if they leave.

“ half the prem league looking at Dwight “ Cornet perhaps . Though Dwight has a talent which may thrive in a high quality side , he’s showed very little in 3? years for us tbf. I hope we keep him as he could get a hatful in the champ . The squad are all for sale so anything could happen .

So what if he isn’t a top PL player but his value should correlate to the current market. 15 million for a 22 year old English winger with over 100+ PL appearances is peanuts.SalouClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:07 pmI don't believe he is wanted by half of the PL for a starter. If all the recent rumour deals come off, our defence options will look like this
Those who can play right back: 3 (Roberts, Lowton, Egan-Riley)
Those who can play CB: 5 (Egan-Riley, Long, Collins, McNally, Harwood-Bellis) - All right footed btw
Those who can play left back: 1 Taylor
Not sure why we haven't been linked with any Left backs yet? And will either of Lowton or Roberts be shipped out?

Infuriating at times but our most skillful player. His judgment of when to pass and when not to appers suspect but I would think.he will improve there and hopefully he stays with us and I think.he will be fantastic in the Championship.

And in the last 50 of those appearances he has offered us absolutely nothing. 4 or 5 assists and 2 goals in 2 seasons is awful. He still young and has potential, but his development has been going the wrong way for 2 years now.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Its been mentioned by Graeme Bailey and now Dean Jones. There’s around 6/7 clubs been mentioned so far with interest. Both are decent journos.
As for Openda, fair enough, I thought 3k a week for a full Belgian international seems pretty odd - but it’s still an unrealistic signing, why would someone with Belgian national team aspirations (World Cup year) come to the Championship? Your guy Weghorst, who turned out s**** by the way, is moving to the Turkish league as he doesn’t want to play in this division.
