Talking of transfers, it'll be interesting to see how Leeds do next season now it looks like they've lost their 2 best players in Philips and Raphinha.

Just went through the stats.
He has played RB 4 times in his career. He has played LCB 19 times and RCB in over 50 games.
He has played in a back 3 on 9 occasions.

Jack Cork can play CM but not a chance he could play CDM that's the differenceUpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:31 amI mean CM and CDM in terms of real football clubs isn't a massive distinction. We're not trying to get 100% chemistry on an online football game here.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Barton was more of a CDM, we've not really replaced him since he left. A fit Barton / Defour axis would have been a joy to watch

? Of course he can
He played that role exclusively for Swansea for a good number of years

Usually the key stat for that position is distance covered and Jack Cork used to be frequently in the top 3 in the PL for that.
Possibly his age might prevent him doing that now, but I still think he could do a job there in the Championship.
The man outran Ndidi and Kante in 2019.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I predict we will sign another CM/CDM to rotate with Cork, it’s a long season. We’ve already been linked with Keita, Bastien, Cullen and Lokonga who play that role.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
he played that role when he was a 26 to 28 year old, he turned 33 last weekCoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:40 am? Of course he can

So?
Grezza played there in the Pl at what 37?
Don’t need the athleticism as much as a sitter compared to a box to box player, it’s about anticipation and reading the game.
Lots of cms play deeper once they lose a step - you really don’t know football

Of course they aren’t the same - but you need less athleticism to play as a sitter than someone who’s expected to go box to box and drive with the ball.
Stamina doesn’t go like pace and acceleration go. Cork will be more than ok as a holding midfield player.

If not CDM where is he playing
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
According to Manchester evening news CJ Egan-Riley can play CB, RB and CDM, I like the flexibility of some of these player's Kompany is bringing in, and the average age of the squad will be mid 20's instead of mid 30's

Harwood Bellis is a central defender and Egan-Riley is a cb/rb. I don't see why he'd play square pegs in round holes.ClaretMov wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:06 amIt's starting to pick up pace now, I think Kompany will go with

Out of the two CAM position's I think one will be Twine
CJ Egan-Riley or Mcnally could possibly play CDM with the other playing along side Collins in CD if he stays.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis would play RB and Taylor LB

Agreed - thought it was pretty common knowledge that as midfielders lose a yard they tend to play further back and are less ‘up and down’.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I don't think he's ever played right back for Anderlecht, Murillo is the right back there. Kompany started with a back 3 and he played on the right hand side of the 3, Kompany switched to a 4 back and THB's gametime was quickly limited.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:34 amJust went through the stats.

Some highly qualified coaches on this thread Midfielders who can pass a ball more than 10 yards, preferably to another Burnley player, would be a good startHalifaxClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:06 amWhat is all this CDM & CAM b*ll*cks?

I don't think they are coaches. They just lock themselves in their bedrooms and play computer games apart from when they are looking at 'stats'.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:23 amSome highly qualified coaches on this thread Midfielders who can pass a ball more than 10 yards, preferably to another Burnley player, would be a good start

According to some on here we're about to dominate possession with a midfield pairing of Cork and Brownhill

I was thinking he was going for a back three and that's why we're bringing three centre backs in, but most seemed to think it was because Collins is going.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:26 amAre you thinking Kompany may start with a back 3 here?

After seeing Brownhill away at Leeds last season when he was the cause of the defeat there is no chance of that happening

I think so but Egan-Riley, Mcnally and Harwood-Bellis is an incredibly inexperienced back 3.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:26 amAre you thinking Kompany may start with a back 3 here?

Resident football expert KRBFC was slandering Brownhill and roasting him for how poor he was at Leeds away last season, blaming him for our shocking midfield performance there.
Thing is, he wasn’t even in the squad for that game.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Harwood-Bellis is more experienced that Kevin Long in the championship, he's more experienced than Tarky was when he signed for Brentford, more experience than Tripper and Mee when we signed them. I think the other two are backup to Collins and THB

If there is anything Brownhill is good at, it is being a workhorse and chasing down the ball.

It costs the sharp end of £10k for a UEFA Pro Licence.
Our resident 'experts' pay around £40 for Football Manager.
Make what you will of that.

It’s all good banter roasting KRBFC for that but his point stands. Our midfield was abysmal for 90% of the season last year. It’s got to be an area that’s improved upon this window.

I still think we need to replace Cork, Westwood, Barnes amd Rodriguez, who are all too old now for a season in the Championship. Am I asking for too much?
