The more I think about it the less I’m bothered about losing any of our current team. None of them have done anything of note for the past 12 months, if a sensible offer comes in we should sell.

He doesn't score and doesn't get assists. Both pretty sound judgements of a good attacking player.
This season is massive for Dwight. I really hope he flourishes for us
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
And who’s fault is that? It’s not a coincidence this drop in form coincided with Dyche’s coaching and tactics.SalouClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:58 pmAnd in the last 50 of those appearances he has offered us absolutely nothing. 4 or 5 assists and 2 goals in 2 seasons is awful. He still young and has potential, but his development has been going the wrong way for 2 years now.

Who was in charge when Dwight first came in to the team and initially looked promising?
You can't blame Dyche for McNeil not getting any assists from the wing.

I can’t see Dwight, Cornet and Collins being with us at the end of the transfer window. Why would they want to play in the championship?

Dwight would have had assists last season had our strikers finished their chances, he put in an amazing cross for Cornet at Norwich for example

Quite right his xA (expected assists) for the season was actually 5.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:14 pmDwight would have had assists last season had our strikers finished their chances, he put in an amazing cross for Cornet at Norwich for example

The club will only get what someone is prepared to pay as in normal life.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:10 pmAnd also after Richarlison and the diver.
Anybody who believes they are after all 4 is mental, and the main pundits are talking the Everton link, not us.
There is so much crap around
17.5 for Cornet. Should get that.
Dwight and Collins 14 to 18 Rach.
A tidy sum for the coffers and massive wage saving.
We are rebuilding a Championship squad.
You have to put faith in VK and AP.
It will all come alright in the end

You really think that despite paying £12 million for Collins (on a long term contract) we'd accept £14-£18 million for him?It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:16 pmThe club will only get what someone is prepared to pay as in normal life.

Newcastle just paid 35 million for a lad who is one year older with no PL experience and you think 18 is fair for Collins ? Aye alrightIt Is What It Is wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:16 pmThe club will only get what someone is prepared to pay as in normal life.

Its a genuine metric that analysts look at. And probably more representative than ‘assists’ alone as to how creative someone was.

Collins goes for 40 million with loads of add on's minimum or he stays, why does he need to be sold this window his value will go up and up
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
He was a raw, young talent - teams didn’t know how to deal with him. Then Dyche couldn’t adapt his tactics to get the best out of him. Aren’t coaches supposed to improve the players?SalouClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:11 pmWho was in charge when Dwight first came in to the team and initially looked promising?

Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
You will have to do some googling on the specifics but there’s calculations behind it depending on the chance (ie open goal tap in would be 0.9 or something, whereas a header from the penalty spot might be 0.15 - just examples). Not saying it’s 100% accurate but it’s part of the underlying player data that’s looked at.

Zak Steffen going to Boro from City. Very good signing for them. Thought we’d be in on that.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Just to throw in a curved ball
Maybe we were so poor for the last two seasons because of an uninspiring, tactically inept manager
Maybe the other Prem clubs think they can get more out of these players
Just a thought

Isn't "expected assists" essentially the same as "big chances created?"

Sven Botman is one of the top young prospects in world football, a little different to Collins, I do agree Collins is worth more than £18m though.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:18 pmNewcastle just paid 35 million for a lad who is one year older with no PL experience and you think 18 is fair for Collins ? Agree on Cornet if he's got that release clause and wants to go then fine.It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:16 pmThe club will only get what someone is prepared to pay as in normal life.

But why would we sell Dwight or Collins so cheaply, both on long term contracts, and both have every chance of improving under Kompany's charge.
Regarding wage savings we've already shifted quite a few high earners off the books, mainly due to so many of our mainstays being OOC, so that shouldn't be an immediate problem when you factor in our parachute payments.

Apparently "nearly half of the PL teams" want Nathan Collins.
Putting a valuation on Dwight isn't easy because irrespective of this, that and the other, last season wasn't his best for us.
Otherwise, could we please stop bickering about our previous manager and focus on the topic of this thread?

Dyche was in charge when Dwight broke into the team. And had he another alternative than to play Dwight, he would have taken it. Dwight got into the side because of injuries. He made himself undroppable due to his performances whilst in the side.SalouClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 4:11 pmWho was in charge when Dwight first came in to the team and initially looked promising?

What CAN’T be disputed is the difference in his game from when he came in to what we were seeing when SD left. We can absolutely blame dyche for McNeil not getting any assists from the wing. Surely only one person to blame for that?

and you don't think Collins, also a full international, isn't one of the top young prospects ? I'm not saying he's as good as Botman or not but if he went for 35 there is no way we sell Collins for 18 (as you agreed)

Yes he was great for 6 of the last 8 years. Time to move on. Nostalgia never got you anything in the PL
Imagine the names being mentioned on here if SD was still here-Joe Allen of Stoke, Delph of Everton, Andy Carroll. I could go on. Then the debates of whether he was SD's choice or the Chairman. I also like the way VK is selling the club to these new players. Maybe not 3 star Michelin chef on omelettes but he obviously commands huge respect

I hope we can move Dwight on…If we can get North of 10m I would snap their hands off.
Any player who get 0 assists and 0 goals in his position is not really adding a huge amount.

The fact that Taylor is totally left footed also meant Charlie can only overlap. This was limiting for Dwight, who although he is too one footed has proved he can beat a defender on both sides. This had nothing to do with SD apart from the fact he selected them. Nothing against Charlie but this was the main reason I would have started a fit Erik Pieters.
For the first 6 months of the season Dwight would not go outside his defender, a total lack of confidence. Probably why he asked, as was reported, or he was asked to have a run out with the stiffs. He was better eventually after that.

Who was the player who had a release clause that a club triggered by £1 and the players team simply refused to honor it? They just stonewalled them out.
Are release clauses legally viable? If so why did that happen.

There's quite a bit of talk on here about our players being on big wages (for the championship)
and getting rid of these will alleviate the burden on the finances of the club.
Won't there have been clauses in their contracts to reduce their wages in the event of relegation ?
