I'd even settle for multiple sightings of potential signings in various places, than read the drivel that's filled the pages of this thread recently

An old adage.
Strikers are at their best 20-24
MFs at 24-28
Defenders at 28-30

It is old so add a year or two to the top end but it is still true.
How can that be true

No player is at their best at the age of 20-24 unless injuries ruin their later careers.

Luckily, we have already secured Twine. Could have been a lot trickier if Hull had sold earlier.

Harwood-Bellis was at the training ground tonight so I expect the reports that him and Riley have signed are true and both are imminent. It is a loan for Bellis and a permanent deal for Riley as has been reported.

The club is purposefully delaying the announcement but they're in the building.

Now for Midfield and Up top please.

I saw this. You’d think it’s something we’d be looking into. I’d imagine it would be a fee of around the 10m mark though, which could mean we need to sell first.

Even at that cost it would seem good value.

As if he scores 20 goals this season he would be worth double or triple in a season.

Genuinely don’t know. As I think Collins is crucial for promotion but so is a striker that’s going to score at least 20.

If we could sell Cornet and sign him that would be the best for all parties I imagine

Yes I’d say so. Southampton are desperate for some strikers. They are taking Romeo Lavia from City on a season long loan too. Must be good relations between the two clubs, I’d imagine they will be first in the queue.

Any PL club paying a large fee for Delap is taking a massive gamble. He’s got a good reputation no doubt, but in terms of that being backed up by evidence, he’s played ONE game in the PL and around five senior games in total.

If I was a PL team interested, I’d be wanting to pay a small fee or see him on loan somewhere first.

True but his stats for the u23s are pretty impressive.

32 apps - 32 goals and 8 assists

Yup, Bournemouth and Sheff utd went big on youth prospects from a top two club, and that didn't work out at all well

Lad at Bournemouth has settled in at championship level, but the lad at Sheff Utd is still struggling

Very pleasantly surprised to see the reported and supposed interest in Brownhill. For me he is a big tryer, always gives 100 %, great at pressing and breaking down attacks. He largely featured most weeks as we were down on midfielder numbers and quality. The surprise for me is I cannot see him holding his place at West Ham, Leeds, Leicester, Wolves and several others. If we can get £15m plus it needs to be considered

I'd be wanting more than £15 million. I'd prefer we kept him as I think his experience and past performances in the Championship would help us a lot, but if we did sell, £20-£25 million.

My thoughts:

Roberts and Brownhill have the most chance to stay, I'd say about 80%. Cornet the likeliest to leave because of the release clause. Collins probably the most wanted man but hopefully we can get a decent fee. Not sure about McNeil, but I think we should do everything to keep him.

I think we actively want to sell Cornet, because we probably have no choice and then one more.

Out of the ones mentioned, if we get 15-20 for Brownhill and keep the rest, I'll be very happy.

That would effectively pay for VK's rebuild and the additional bodies we want in before the window closes.

Putting this down to a brad jones type account so won't link to it as it only has small following and tweets and having googled the person who claims to be a journalist -there is no clear and obvious record of this being true on google.

This tweeter has suggested that Lowton has asked if he can leave if he isn't going to get regular game time this season.

WBA are apparently interested but others may also now that we have given blessing for him to leave.

I'd hope we sell no more than 1 more player. How often do teams bounce back at the first time of asking when having such a huge turnover of players? A tall order if we sell many more IMO. If I had the choice, I'd sell Cornet to move him off the wage bill and reinvest some money into a new forward. As someone else said above, I think Collins is pivotal to our chances this season.
