Wasn't Aidan Davison a really decent keeper at that level? Something in the old memory bank seems to think he was.

I think so. He stayed in the division above I think when he moved.AwayClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:26 pmWasn't Aidan Davison a really decent keeper at that level? Something in the old memory bank seems to think he was.

I remember going to watch training one day and a ball came my way so I kicked it back and Inchy gave me daggers

I liked Peter Swan. I recall a game against Millwall where he just seemed to win every header, every tackle, every challenge. I went home thinking he was some kind of beast

Swapping Peter Swan for Steve Blatherwick has to be some of the worst business we ever did.
Can anyone think of a bigger downgrade, with the exchange being our choice AND having to pay a transfer fee for the privilege?

As I recall Swan hadn't played an awful lot the season just gone when he left - can't remember if that was due to injury or what.
Good player from my recollection, a really solid, dominant centre back - second spell he seemed to barely play.

Managers certainly liked to waffle on back in the day

Re: ARTICLE: Bury manager Ternent wants Swan
I've just checked it. He made just one substitute appearance in the first 16 league games, but then played the full 90 minutes in 16 of the next 18. Then he didn't feature in the last 12 games,jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 4:23 pmAs I recall Swan hadn't played an awful lot the season just gone when he left - can't remember if that was due to injury or what.

I was once walking over the bridge when a few of the players were coming the other way. They were playing some sort of game with the footballs, kicking them along the bridge in succession and, without thinking, I trapped one of the balls under my foot and they all went mad at me. It was horrible, I was about 10 and my heroes were shouting at me! I'm still scarred by it, to be honestAwayClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:44 pmI remember going to watch training one day and a ball came my way so I kicked it back and Inchy gave me daggers

I recall walking up the steps at Meadow Lane past the betting booth and saying to my mate yorkyclaret that Peter Swan looked a pretty decent bet at 28/1 for the first goal but of course I didn't take it up. You know the rest.
Re: ARTICLE: Bury manager Ternent wants Swan
Didn't Swan score against Bury too in the previous season? 3-0 at home.
