Great at free kicks. Usually Churlinov the post Sorry
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Maybe Tella and Churlinov rote for the Barnes role? That bit of pace will mean teams can't press us as high up the pitch.Longsidejono wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:55 pmThe formation we play at the moment, we play Vitinho, Costello, benson, bastien (unless he moves to middle) tella? If not, there are a lot of players available for 2 positions.

With peacock-Farrell, Egan, Vitinho, McNally, Tella, Jay and Cork on the bench with Twine, Westy and JBG to come back and potentially Churlinov and the Ukrainian ST coming in we’re going to have genuine threat from the bench and players will be left out also.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Absolutely I mean kompany is in charge he’s the man, problem being when we conceed it’s Taylor’s fault cause he’s a lb shouldnt be cb (he was fine when we beat Huddersfield) and when we don’t score it will then become the wingers fault (Barnes fault when we didn’t beat Luton) nature of the business I suppose can’t do right from wrong anyway get them all in! Wingers to suit the whingers!
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Apologies for the tangent. There was a Roman army waiting near Marseille. Hannibal didn't want to encounter them whilst on the march (hence his double-back in the Rhone Valley).AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:17 pmSo why did he 'cross the Alps' with his elephants? I assume Hannibal came up from eastern Spain; so why not just stick to the coast road and come into Italy around by San Remo, a lump shorter and easier elephant walking country too?

Competition for places, squad rotation, and the 5 subs rule should mean they all get their share of time on the park.Longsidejono wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:55 pmThe formation we play at the moment, we play Vitinho, Costello, benson, bastien (unless he moves to middle) tella? And formations can be changed from game to game, or even during a game.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Yeah but Brownhill and Bastien have taken the 2 forward/winger roles in the 4222.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:09 pmKompany definitely still uses wingers, they just become more narrow, why else would he sign benson who is literally an out and out winger

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’m sorry but I can’t think of a less exciting signing than churlinov at that price. He’s pretty bloody expensive and has 10 goals in his career, 7 of which came for Koln second team. Last season he got 2 in 22 in the German second tier. Can I ask why we are spending a good chunk of money on someone who looks like such an average footballer. I get scouting for the future and all that but at that price he is going to be a starter. 10 goals in his career at a lower level shows us he is certainly not going to be prolific at this level yet.
Hope he’s class x

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Churlinov seems like a fairly expensive gamble.
I’d much rather we went tried and tested with this one.

Let's hope Churlinov is the success story from Bundesliaga not another Wout
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think it’s clear to see why we were targeting Calum O’Hare, as when you dominate possession like we have been, you need that extra technical ability in tight spaces to make things happen. I don’t really get the Churlinov signing as another non-scoring winger doesn’t really seem what we need. I’d much rather see that money go on a quality technical 10 type attacker and striker.

BREAKING: NORWICH & BURNLEY MAKE MOVES TO SIGN BOGARDE
Norwich City and Burnley are chasing Hoffenheim defender Melayro Bogarde on loan,
SOURCES HAVE TOLD FOOTBALL INSIDER.
The Championship duo have registered their interest in the Dutchman, 20, as they look to sign a centre-back who can also slot in to full-back and defensive midfield.
Bogarde, a Netherlands under-21 international, spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Groningen, where he played predominantly in midfield.

Churlinov done according to Will Lancaster
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We'll have to see what Churlinov can add to the side that isn't already there. He looks quite good on his YouTube highlights video.
We're now clearly making the most of the cheaper foreign markets, which I suppose we can't really complain at given how we all wanted to see it under Dyche, but I do worry that the immediate impact we need from these players won't be there (Benson showed last night he'll need months to come to terms with the division).
I wonder if we'd have been better with a hybrid policy of some promising foreign players, mixed with some Championship experience like Swift and Wallace (both would fit into Kompany's system brilliantly). Time will tell.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He was kicked out of the game last night and offered very little as a result. He'll need to massively toughen up to be consistently effective at this level. That doesn't happen overnight.

Personally I’m most excited by him than I am the other recent wide player links. Only from YT though.
Wouldn’t pay too much attention to the fees. Kompany said midweek we’ve only really paid half of what’s been reported. Imagine a lot is performance related.

Really don’t understand some fans crying out for us to go and get delap on loan, he’s never had a loan spell, he’s only ever played at youth level and couple of games for city in cup. For our striker problems we need a proven guy but they are hard to come by at any level it seems

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We were one short if you assume Cornet, McNiel & JBG were our wingers prior to the window. If you assume McNeil was a ACM & Cornet a striker we were 3 short. 4 when you consider JBG can’t be relied upon to play 4 games, nevermind 46.
We’ve sold two of those, the other is still injured/not fit.
Then we have Costelloe added from U23’s, Benson, Tella and now Churlinov. So up to 4. Benson is a RB/LB being played out of position, presumably due to lack of options on the bench currently.

Exactly, he'd be OK as the 3rd or 4th striker, but doubt City would agree to that.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:58 pmReally don’t understand some fans crying out for us to go and get delap on loan, he’s never had a loan spell, he’s only ever played at youth level and couple of games for city in cup. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
It’s a lot of players for a few places but I think that given many are young, some are going to take time to adapt and some won’t handle the rigours of 2 often bruising games per week, it will mean lots of rotation/subs and that’s the way to go for us.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Agree, quite concerning he couldn't get in the Stuttgart team so was loaned out to the 2nd division, Stuttgart were very nearly relegated themselves. No real goalscoring pedigree.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Bastien, Twine, Brownhill, Vitinho too. Along with Benson, JBG, Tella, Churlinov and Costelloe.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:59 pmWe were one short if you assume Cornet, McNiel & JBG were our wingers prior to the window. That's 9 players to play in the 3 roles behind the striker (4231).
Benson is not a RB/LB, he's a RW.

Looking at the set up last night Burnley are a bit like the Labour Party and need some decent left wingers.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He’s only 22. His career to date, which isn’t by any means awful, doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be a success. He comes to mind because I just mentioned him, but glen little came from glenavon for 100k at a similar age. Had Robbie Blake had a significantly more promising career than chirlinov? A very extreme example, but kante was rejected by almost everyone.
Many on here were bemoaning the fact that we weren’t looking at cheaper options in Europe with potential sell premiums. We can’t afford proven players at the highest level. They’re all risks of varying degrees, but that’s where we are.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Sorry, I meant Vitinho is a RB, not Benson.
Twine, Bastien, Brownhill all central players. The only “wingers” we have today are Benson, Tella (loan) & Costelloe, plus hopefully Churlinov. You might consider JBG a winger given he played RM for Dyche but in reality he’ll never beat his man, so we have 4, one of whom isn’t ours.
I don’t think we’ll play 4231 all season. Think we’ll play all sorts of formations but width will be key.

But you are correct that we are presumably buying this lad on what we think he can do in the future rather than what he’s done so far.
The concern I suppose is that when you are taking this approach it’s a big gamble…..especially if you are taking this approach with a number of the new players like we seem to be.
Feels like we do need a couple of signings who are ‘proven’….and I’ve used inverted commas as I mean more proven. That is not necessarily loads of championship experience but played more first team football in a pretty decent league.
But we are where we are and it definitely interesting and pretty exciting at the moment .

He went to a very big team in Germany though even though they where in second division, they got promoted so was playing in a team with the pressures of getting back to the top division.
Kante and mahrez were playing second tier French football before Leicester picked them up
