One has no effect on the other at all - I knew one of them was a definite on Monday, still nothing certain on the other.
Is the Turkish lad similar in anyway to O'Hare from Coventry in his style of play? i.e. someone who can create chances?

Yes albeit more from a centre forward position

Hopefully this is the signing that diminshes even further the possibility of seeing "our Ash" on a more regular basis.

What’s the odds of us getting this guy in then exchange Roberts for Obefemi at Swansea?

You said his passing is really poor compared to those around him, it isn’t. He fits into this system, his role being to keep possession and to pass the ball to TBH or the wing back.
If that's the case someone should tell him to stop hitting Hail Mary passes to Gudmundsson.

So many unknowns with these players (how will they handle a December Lancashire etc) but we do seem to be the exciting “go to” place for young players. They seem to be queuing up.

If we go up, that will only increase. Very different from under Dyche (not knocking him btw) where we had to really push the boat out to persuade them.

Athletic reporter from Swansea’s side

‘Swansea and Burnley are going to have to work hard to find some middle ground for this Michael Obafemi deal to happen. Still apart on the valuation.’

Don’t have a feeling this one will happen.

interesting Utube video, first bit seemed to be skills/trickery, not scoring, worryingly, then second bit scoring time & time for fun, could be super for us with the supply line we'd give him

Jason O’Connor:

‘As of now Obafemi will stay put at Swansea, Both Burnley & Swansea are apart on valuation at the moment.

No progress since last night.

Still ever chance of happening as it will go down to the wire as Burnley very keen to add him to the squad.’

I don't really want to diss a great servant, but Barnes was gash for the last two seasons under SD, and looks like a fish out of water in this system

It makes no sense for him to still be here, and its certainly a good thing that we are signing strikers who are much more suited to the way we play

I’m told it’s likely/close.

Not one that excites me tbh. And if the fee is anywhere near those reported, I’d think we’re mad.

Personally don’t think it’s necessary to splash a lot of money on a striker now & would hold on to the budget till Jan.

Interesting. How come a proven Champ striker (1 in 2 strike rate last season) at the age of 22 doesn’t excite you?

It’s 12 in 32 apps isn’t it? Don’t think it’s all starts to be fair, but then I’d question why not?

Overall just looks very raw & I really wanted the Metz lad.

Have heard a view he’d be much more dangerous in VK’s system but don’t really know much about Swanseas and how we are better suited though tbh

He had a slow start at Swansea then burst into life midway through the season. In the end his minutes per goals is 168 which is under 1 in 2.

I think the Georgian from Metz would have been more of a risk surely?

And yes comments I've seen from a few Swansea fans reckon he could score 20+ in our team - though I'm not sure anyone will get above 20 this season given the amount of rotation I'm anticipating.

Hope your info is correct and it is likely but from the reliable reporters it's not on the cards yet.

I don’t disagree but think he deserves a bit more respect than to get disrespected every time we sign a forward.
VK has clearly highlighted the need to replace him so surely that’s enough for supporters.
If he stays at Burnley then that has to be because of his contract terms and a lack of interest from other clubs to take him because of this. That’s not Barnes’ fault or VK’s either.

If we just sign the Turk and the German, without losing Josh B then that is a good end to the window for me. I'll be happy to leave something in the bank for January. We'll know by then whether being so short is costing us or not. We may find we need some players for plans B and C in matches.

Was a new signing so had to wait for his chance, once he got a regular run in the side he was hitting the back of the net on a regular basis.

------------------------------------

Obafemi last season in the league.

Signed early in the season and only started one of his first twelve league games, scoring one goal. He got a run in the side from the beginning of Feb and started nineteen of his last twenty games scoring eleven goals.

So:-

12 (11) - 1 Goal
20 (1) - 11 Goals

Make his stats look a lot better than 32 games 12 Goals, also none of these were penalties.

Yeah. Appears to work in the league of Ireland (if he’s not bullshitting in his bio), but not sure that necessarily gives him the inside track on every transfer deal that involves a ROI player. Even if it did, I’m not sure his source would be happy with him sharing everything on Twitter.

If Swansea need the money for obafemi to finance another deal, our signing of Halil means we will be seen as not as desperate. Therefore Swansea might be more willing to reduce their asking price.

Fair enough, hadn’t done the minutes calc.

Metz lad yeah, more risk. Just judging off my YT scouting though, looked to me to have really high potential. Of course I don’t have data and stats coming out of my ears to say whether that’s the level he’s playing at or real ability.

Thanks to Goody1975 for the breakdown. They do look better. Only one so far this season though. If he only plays well after Feb, maybe we should sign him in Jan :D

I’ve not had an update since being told it was on but seems much less likely given reports/posts & I’m personally not too gutted. An icing on the cake kind of signing & I always leave the icing :D Will be very happy to be proven massively wrong though.

He's not been injured this season...and hasn't scored. I just think he belongs to an era now past, doesn't feel a fit at all.
In addition he's not exactly the most "constructive" player is he ? Seems more interested in throwing himeself to the floor / complaining to the referee, perhaps because he's fully aware of his (increasing) limitations as a player.
In addition, I do think he should have been out of the club sometime ago, perhaps around the time of his drink driving offence ?

He's not been injured this season...and hasn't scored. I just think he belongs to an era now past, doesn't feel a fit at all.
In addition he's not exactly the most "constructive" player is he ? Seems more interested in throwing himeself to the floor / complaining to the referee, perhaps because he's fully aware of his (increasing) limitations as a player.
In addition, I do think he should have been out of the club sometime ago, perhaps around the time of his drink driving offence ?
Fair comments but he was brilliant when he came on against Millwall. He is our only real "strong man" in character and physique for a battle. He can hold the ball up and lay it off to maintain possession. He has a role to play but he doesn't seem like a natural fit for VK and his skill set is definitely downward trending.

He's been a great player for us. He's not without his uses. I'm not going to write him off yet. He can still score.

With potentially another forward coming in, I do wonder if Tuesday was Barnes last appearance for us.

"Beyer, who is under contract with Gladbach until 2026, is yet to feature for the club under Daniel Farke"

Other than a couple of spells out injured last season he played quite often but this season he's not played at all. Farke obviously doesn't fancy him.
to be fair, Farke knows **** all about defending if his time at Norwich is any indication

The squad we will end today with will undoubtedly be the strongest in the league imo.

Other teams will arguably have better individuals (Sarr, Pedro, etc) but our depth will be unreal. How we’ll select a bench is beyond me but can see 5 subs being used every game.
not sure about that, Sheff Utd look very strong

I reckon Obafemi will join.

Swansea are entertaining bids, benched him last night - they're broke and they need a sale. They expected interest in Piroe and have had none.

This is just brinkmanship and seeing who blinks first over a couple of million quid - he'll be ours (late on).

(No source, just common sense).
