Decent little piece on Tella by Dan James at Lancs Live:

I think he could be an exciting addition.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I personally don't see Cabral happening. I've seen a few reports out of Portugal saying that his agent is making the signing difficult.
I can imagine a club like Besiktas pays silly money in agents fee and we wont.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Here's the article for reference. Apparently he has five different agencies. (Apologies, it's Google translated so it's not perfect).
"According to information provided by the newspaper Record, Jovane Cabral has five agents who, with their particular requirements, make it difficult for the player to leave. It is recalled that the lion has been collaborating with the “Invictus Team”, the entity that transferred him, on loan, to Lazio, but maintains relations with other agencies such as Positionumber, Gestifute, Winner Sport Sarl and Mago Internacional Foot, the that makes it difficult for the Cape Verdean extreme to leave."

Van den Berg going to Rovers.
Always thought it was an odd ish one for us given our abundance of centre backs.
They can probably offer more playing time?

I miss the days of endlessly arguing about whether Charlie Taylor and Josh Brownhill are good or not.
That was peak transfer rumours thread.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
From what I’ve seen so far, and it perhaps depends how far away from being first team ready McNally is, I think we are missing an aerially dominant centre half.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Or we decided Hendry was better maybe.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Almost as crucial as a striker in my opinion.
We're a very small team and against a better side than Huddersfield/Luton it will be exposed I feel.

‘Understand Rangers' Fashion Sakala is set to stay at Ibrox.
Burnley were interested & willing to pay between £2-4m. Rangers value him higher.
It was Sakala or Tella, not both, so Burnley moved onto the Soton man.’
Sakala more than 4m? No thanks.

I want that centre half from France (Metz?), ideally. Looks dominant.
Still need a number 9 as well after Tella.

It's good that club is being more ruthless in transfers, not waiting for just one player and having multiple options

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Bizarre all round.
1 - The only similarity between the players is pace. Sakala is more of a striker and Tella a winger. Sakala has a good goals/assists to minutes ratio, Tella does not.
2 - Rangers wanting that much for a player they signed on a free and that is obviously no longer a key part of their manager's plans so will go down in value.

I do think the links to some players are just designed to encourage our main targets to make up their minds…

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Good about time we were more aggressive with our approach, and if this means some players sitting on the fence have to make a swift decision great.
It sure beats sitting around all summer waiting for the likes of Dawson and Lansbury among others to string us along before signing new contracts or going elsewhere, i like this new decisive Burnley in the market, long may it continue.

I think you are exactly right there. I reckon Pace was pretty fed up about the whole Orsic situation, and has now designed and implemented this new transfer strategy.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I guess the difference with this window to others is that we are operating at a lower level so the number of potential players to choose from that can make a difference is greater. That gives us more options.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Exactly this. I don’t think there’s been some great awakening re our transfer strategy, we’ve just moved from being the club with the least to spend to one of the clubs with the most while at the same time shopping for cheaper players.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
No. It's opinion. None of us know the finances. You have no idea on the terms of how we are being paid for players, how we are paying for players, exact sums involved or where the money is going. It's your OPINION, that it's is being used to pay debt. We have threads about ALK debt, we have threads about other finances. It doesn't belong here on the "transfer rumours" thread. The clue is in the name. It's not rocket science. Yes, talking about possible fees for players etc is understandable, but then to start down the track of where the money is going and other spurious ideas isn;t needed on here. I imagine most people are just fed up of it and it's always from the same individuals.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 8:45 amIt's not a personal opinion, it's fact.
Rightly or wrongly, they are taking money to pay debt. Kompany has spoken about it more than once in his press conferences.
Whilst I don't want to get into the buyout, if a rumour comes up of us spending £12m on Zirkzee and offering a contract of £30k p/w for example, the likelihood of that happening is directly linked to the finances available at the club and inevitably becomes part of the discussion.
NO ALK DISCUSSION - you might stand a chance

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I don’t think so, the issue around Tevez was that the agents ‘owned’ the player. It was supposed to be illegal, think the loophole was closed pretty sharpish after it became known.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 4:04 pmThat sounds ominous. IS this anything like the old Tevez saga?
