I'm pretty sure there is a bit of flexibility for players outside of the model we've used so far, especially if it is the "missing piece" who wil hopefully do the job here and now.

No idea, but he’d scored 12 in 20 for MK Dons on L1 before moving to France. Decent scoring record over the last few years.

Lowton has been excellent for us. He played a crucial role in a team that won the championship title going 23 games unbeaten. He played a prominent role in the side which finished 7th and qualified for European Football. He also played regularly through our stay in the top flight and the highest moments in our clubs recent history (80s onwards). He had some dips in form, but he gave everything at all times.

Absolutely and I'm still not convinced Roberts is a better player than Lowts. Although younger and probably suits VK's system more, for Roberts' apparent attacking quality reputation, we haven't yet really seen it bar a few flashes.

I'm not sure that's how it works, couldn't we sign him on 30 grand a week and pay him a £2m signing on fee to make up the difference? Also don't the selling club sometimes contribute towards the wage, like City did with Joe Hart.

I can’t see him coming back. He was Dyche’s man and it would be hugely embarrassing to come back after six months. Nor could I see Newcastle/Howe allowing it after spinning £25m.

This. We shouldn’t be looking for a six yard box poacher-type. It suggests scoring a preponderance from set pieces. That’s not our game anymore. I would bet 50p, and I don’t bet, that we score more from outside the six yard box this season than we do inside it
