Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think there is good reason for this thread really.
I am sure fees and what not need to be included (along with whether a transfer is 'good value' or not), but as we see on other threads - and I hold my hand up in being part of those discussions - the actual chatter on transfers gets held up by the overarching club finance stuff.
I won't be pushing my opinion on all of that stuff on here, and perhaps this demarcation will allow for a more respectful forum in general rather than posters getting on each others nerves etc. The amount of one-up-manship and critical commentary on people (which borders on abuse, at times) from posters on other threads drives me mad. We're all Clarets ffs.
If having some sort of dedicated area to discuss stuff that is important to you without winding others up then all the better in my book.
Drawing a line under all of that:
Burnley are battling Valencia (Hmmm....good luck with that!??) for Murillo from Anderlecht with a fee of £3.5m being mentioned (football-addict.com - unsure if they are reliable!). I find this one a bit perplexing as he is a right wing back, so perhaps Kompany is unconvinced by Roberts?

Good list and if we signedjedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 11:22 pmIn the spirit of what you’re attempting Arise (and rest assured, I’ll keep my finance hat away!), the list of links as I can recall is something like:
Goalkeepers:
Arijanet Muric - Man City - No fee suggested
Michael Cooper - Plymouth Argyle - No fee suggested (tenuous link)
Defenders:
Michael Amir Murillo - Anderlecht - No fee suggested
Jack Hendry - Club Brugge - No fee suggested
Taylor Harwood-Bellis - Man City - Season loan
Moussa Sissako - Standard Liege - No fee suggested
Joel Latibeaudiere - Swansea City - £500k
Luke McNally - Oxford United - £1.75m
Brandon Ormond-Ottewille - Excelsior - Free (out of contract)
Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel - Blackpool - No fee suggested
Midfielders:
Josh Cullen - Anderlecht - No fee suggested
Majeed Ashimeru - Anderlecht - No fee suggested
Jed Wallace - Millwall - Free (out of contract)
Mandela Keita - OH Leuven - £4m
Samba Lokonga - Arsenal - Season loan (tenuous link)
Rafael Camacho - Sporting Lisbon - Season loan with view to £3m permanent deal
Forwards:
Scott Twine - MK Dons - £4m
Liam Delap - Man City - Season loan (tenuous link)
Makhtar Gueye - KV Oostende - No fee suggested
Please add any that I’ve undoubtedly missed.
Muric - (I don't know anything about him, but Kompany does, and by all accounts he'll be comfortable playing out from the back)
THB - (though the talk is he might come on a permanent deal now,
Gabriel - (impressed at Blackpool under Critchley, and the type who knows the Champ, and we will need a few in that ilk.
Cullen- again someone VK knows, and boy do we need a CM, especially if we want to be fluid and sometimes play 3 in there.
Wallace - a no brainer on a free for me, yes he's 28, but he knows the league, and he'll offer goals and assists aplenty, sure he'll demand a decent signing on fee, but he'll still represent good value.
Twine - I guess he'd class as our marquee signing, £4m is a hefty fee for a L 1 player, but he's only 22, and exactly the sort we might be able to make a big profit on a year or two down the line.
Those 6 would cover a lot of the gaping holes in our existing squad, and wouldn't break the bank.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
It’s possible that Kompany thinks he can develop Roberts as (an attacking) right wing back and that’s why he’s looking for a new right back.
But, if we did sign Wallace they’d be competing for the same position (which isn’t a bad thing).

There’s absolutely no point talking about the finances - none of the journalists or ourselves have the faintest idea on these unless one, or ideally both, of the clubs release that info.

Can’t see him being on our radar and it’s not been mentioned by the more credible Belgian sources where as the central midfielder from Ghana has.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I've just seen the news about Dara Costelloe's new contract.
I'm slowing coming out of my post-relegation cave. It's a month today I believe since we went down.
My stance from now on: try to take anything positive and blank out the rest. Naive, yes. But that's my own way of coping. VK coming is good news, Jack's new contract is great, the news of Dara's new deal is positive. I'd really like to think that our younger lads might feature more now we're in a lower division.

I think even before we consider new signings we’re not in as dire place as some think, with some very good youngsters coming up through the ranks - Costello, Richardson, Helm maybe. Plus Phillips, who should provide decent cover after a good loan. I don’t think we’re too short on numbers and should focus on quality.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Being reported the Jed Wallace has opted for West Brom and his having his medical today.

That is a shame. Whether we’ve come in too late or not, possibly. Maybe he’s not convinced we’ll be battling for promotion given the rebuild. Can’t see why you’d choose Bruce ball over Kompany ball.Mattster wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:06 pmBeing reported the Jed Wallace has opted for West Brom and his having his medical today.

Hope we don’t go for too many young players without experience of this league.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
How is Steve Bruce attracting creative attacking players like Swift and Wallace? Baffling.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Got to assume it's either financial or not wanting to move so far north as West Brom are no better a promotion prospect and they're managed by Steve Bruce.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Ah well, more money to fund a Twine move. Would much rather him and McNeil as the inverted wingers in Kompany's 4-4-2 personally.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Agree. Twine off the left, McNeil off the right. Would be the best pairing in the league.
Would need a new striker though, Liam Delap ideal and cheap with it being a loan.

Has he been a number 1 transfer target? Only the club will know. Only then have we missed out on a transfer target

Everyone slagging off Bruce obviously didn’t see the messages from the Newcastle players after he was sacked. They loved him.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He got sacked by Villa in 12th place in the Championship with a team that included Jack Grealish, Tammy Abraham and John McGinn. He's a bad manager.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’m not saying he’s a great manager but it’s obvious he’s a decent bloke. I’d say that goes some way to getting a signing over the line.

Nixon is suggesting Wallace going for a medical is his agent playing games to get the money driven up by Burnley and West Brom. Says nothing signed yet.

Having him, Cork and (when he's fit) Westwood seems a bit unnecessary.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 2:19 pmWould anybody be happy with Fabian Delph?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Wouldn’t say so. Twine would play the inside left position with Dwight on the inside right.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The "before and after" performances may have been partly influenced by the huge amounts of money that Sheik Yermoneymaker was prepared to throw at Eddie Howes transfer pot
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I was going to say that Twine plays in more of a number 10 role.
So we could accommodate Wallace and also Twine

From Andy Jones
‘Kompany is a huge fan of Anderlecht's Josh Cullen who was central to his system when in charge.
There is also interest from elsewhere in the midfielder.
One of multiple potential targets but Burnley need to get a move on.‘
‘Burnley need to get a move on’ - where have we seen that before?

Rumour - A circulating story/report of uncertain or doubtful truth
Does it really matter what's said in a Transfer rumour thread on here?
They are normally full of shite, know all's or someone pretending that they know a lot about the Azerbaijan second division.
He'll be good from League 1, he'll be good from Man City reserves, I've just seen their stats on Up The Clarets Top Trumps Transfer Targets.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Let’s be honest there are plenty of unproven managers that tear it up (Dyche/Coyle) and others that are proven promotion winners but fall flat on their face (Hughton @ Forest, Bruce @ Villa) and so it’s impossible to say who’s best placed in that regard.
Ultimately new managers emerge and old ones run out of steam.
