Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Bale, 32, is a free agent having ended his nine-year stay with Real Madrid and is free to discuss terms on a contract at any club of his choosing, and met with Cardiff boss Steve Morison over his future.
And although he is a boyhood Bluebirds fan, he has never played for the Welsh side and any move to Cardiff would surely be the shock story of the summer, with the forward revealing a decision on his future is imminent, according to WalesOnline.
Would be some signing for Cardiff that

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
There was talk of this happening a few weeks back. He seems to only play when he can be arsed anyway, so imagine he'll pick and choose the games he wishes to start in.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Be a huge coup for Cardiff, and although he might demand big wages, they'll reap the rewards with the merchandise and sponsors alike to easily cover that initial outlay, plus the TV companies will fall over themselves to document Bale's homecoming.
Not 100% but I'm fairly certain he's one of the few big names who hasn't yet graced Turf Moor.

it'll be funny when Roberts boots him into the Bob Lord
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Would have thought he played either in the Coyle season league cup match or the last game of our first PL season under Laws. Could be wrong thoughtiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:11 pmBe a huge coup for Cardiff, and although he might demand big wages, they'll reap the rewards with the merchandise and sponsors alike to easily cover that initial outlay, plus the TV companies will fall over themselves to document Bale's homecoming.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
He played at Turf moor, said above, for Spurs in the last game of the season. He scored, as did Luca Modrich ( I think) but we won 4-2.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:11 pmBe a huge coup for Cardiff, and although he might demand big wages, they'll reap the rewards with the merchandise and sponsors alike to easily cover that initial outlay, plus the TV companies will fall over themselves to document Bale's homecoming.

Played in the semi final in 08/09 as well, missed a easy chance when through down the left.

It seemed nailed on he was off to Cardiff when he said it 'wasn't important' where he played.
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Didn't Blake tear him a new one in the League Cup semi at the Turf?

The game that prolonged Laws time here. Grrrrrr.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:42 pmHe scored on the Turf, as did Modric, in the final day of the 2009/10 season.
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
That's right, spun him all over the show.
Bale came on as a sub for O'Hara according to this article:

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
He played in the semi-final of the league cup 2nd leg - and was horrific.
Apparently Spurs hadn’t won in something daft like 18 games in which he had started… couple of seasons later he broke out and that was all she wrote

We were going nowhere under Laws. An absolute shocking appointment.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:45 pmAnd yet our record in the Championship under Laws since 2000 is bettered only by Dyche & Coyle in terms of points per game.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
I've read that his next move isn't about finances, he's more interested in keeping match fit for the World Cup, so Cardiff would probably be ideal, he wouldn't be asking for mega wages, he was on £5-600k a week a Real, plus other bonuses so money isn't going to be an issue.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:11 pmBe a huge coup for Cardiff, and although he might demand big wages, they'll reap the rewards with the merchandise and sponsors alike to easily cover that initial outlay, plus the TV companies will fall over themselves to document Bale's homecoming.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Yes, Laws underperformed compared to those given the hefty budget he had.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:45 pmAnd yet our record in the Championship under Laws since 2000 is bettered only by Dyche & Coyle in terms of points per game.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Gareth Bale visited the Welsh FA Centre which is shared with Cardiff City who had just started pre season training. I think Bale is open to signing for them but wants a year contract and Cardiff are offering a pay as you play deal. Would be funny if Swansea gave him what he wanted.
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Our second highest Championship wage bill (although undoubtedly soon to be third).
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
I can't see him going with a pay-as-you-play deal. He plays when he can be bothered. If it doesn't suit him, he'll cry injury.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 8:57 amGareth Bale visited the Welsh FA Centre which is shared with Cardiff City who had just started pre season training. Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Perfect move for him, their season ends in October, 2 weeks before the world cup starts, they've only got 19 games left and it's LA, not South Wales.
I suspect he retires after the world cup, or maybe spends another season the MLS

Good stuff, wouldn’t have been the best for us if he were playing for Cardiff. Wouldn’t shock me to see him there in January though.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Bale and Ramsay have always picked when to play. They have withdrawn from many Wales games due to "injuries" just like Giggs used to do
Bale was never going to sign for Cardiff they would have expected a 100% committed player, he always plays when he is arsed like Ramsey.
It would have good for season ticket sales but the fans would have been bitterly disappointed as Bale let them down.

Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
Not really, although a slow process, the league is going from strength to strength with some really promising young players coming through and earning moves to Europe. It might be seen as a hinderence at times, but the wage structure keeps the playing field level over there, and rarely a team romps the league year after yearclaptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 4:53 pmHe's just confirmed his retirement and joined LA FC in the MLS
Re: Gareth Bale to Cardiff?
I don't think that is the case with Bale. Well over a hundred caps. Definite injuries along the way, rather than a deliberately miss.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 6:30 pmBale and Ramsay have always picked when to play. They have withdrawn from many Wales games due to "injuries" just like Giggs used to do

More a case of 'not fit for club' followed by 'in Wales squad for team spirit ' and ends with, 'He plays. We'll see how he copes'

Always thought he'd end up somewhere like Florida or California. Good lifestyle, and can play golf 12 months a year.
