England's hour despite the loss of Overton, and the runs are still flowing, 67-1 in that opening hour.

Decent contribution from Broad. Must be the coldest man in England though, looked like he was wearing about 5 layers!

Done absolutely brilliant to get a lead after being 50 odd for 6. Hopefully the bowlers will do a job this afternoon.

We’ve added 96 this morning so definitely our session despite those late wickets

Pressure on NZ'S top order, and they haven't reacted well to pressure all series, great chance for England to nip a couple out early, and really turn the screw.

Had he done so he'd have become the first England player to score a century and take a wicket on his test debut since W G Grace.

And before some clever arse asks me if I was there when Grace did it :D :D :D
You had such a good attendance record, back then - you must have kicked yourself for missing that!

Leach taking the new ball with Broad, bold call that by Stokes, hope it pays off.

I like the risk, they were saying it’s the first time we've opened with a spinner since Swann in 2009

Leach should be confident as well, he took 5 1st dig, and did strike early to get Latham.

Stokes does like doing something different, which is good to see.

13/0 at lunch, but England will be happy with their morning's work.

Potts makes the breakthrough, Young gone for 8, 28-1, and NZ still trailing.

Now they've squeezed ahead with a boundary.

But it's a totally different game when NZ are batting compared to England.

Stokes bringing himself on, that's a sign he's not happy with proceedings, Latham/Williamson setting a good platform for NZ to post a testing run chase for England again, lead already nearly 50.

Latham dropped by Root, Broad won't be happy with that, and it's starting to drift somewhat for England this afternoon, this pair are showing their class though.

125-1 at tea, and that was most definitely NZ'S session, lead nearing 100. However we've been here before when NZ looked in control, and then England suddenly grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Again a wicket first ball of the resumption, Conway gone to a brilliant Pope catch, Nick would have been proud of that grab.

And another test scalp for Root.

Williamson gone that could be the key wicket, 153-4, lead only 122, Potts gets Williamson for the 3rd time in the series.

Another for England, and this game has transformed since tea. 161-5 lead only 130, they'll need more, but this pair might well deliver them, the Mitchell/Blundell combo in action again.

NZ'S session but with Mitchell and Blundell together we shouldn't be surprised, 254-5, lead of 223, and this pitch is taking spin, however NZ don't have a front line spinner having omitted Patel, and they might well rue that call now.

At least with the new attitude of this England team we should be in for an exciting run chase regardless of NZ’s total.

Potts has a golden arm doesn't he, and crucially he can run in all day, that's gold dust to a captain, and I feel we'll be seeing a lot more of Potts on England duty. I like this lad's attitude.

Couple of quick wickets for England, but the lead continues to grow, 264 now, so the target is likely to be around 300.

No bother England will knock those off today. :) Strange symmetry to all 3 tests, England have batted 4th chasing similar scores to win.

A run out isn't ideal. it's tough enough facing Boult and co as it is, without gifting wickets away.

Typical Crawley innings, he looked good, made a few, then got out again.
