All the best Nick. Top keeper.
Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
The best Burnley keeper of lifetime. It'll taken some doing to find someone even on par.

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
Some complain that it's Newcastle, but I don't care. I wish him well wherever.
He deserves to be in the top flight, and only Southgate knows why he isn't number 1.
Unbelievable achievements with the Clarets, and God knows where we could have ended up without him.

What a crying shame, to lose such an invincible keeper, who loved it at Burnley.

Really does feel like the end of an era now with Nick leaving on top of Mee/Tarks. Best of luck, the best keeper I have seen in a Burnley shirt. Now for some positive news PLEASE Burnley...

A sad day Nick could have done better and I wish him well and thanks for all the brilliant performances. I would like to think his England prospects will improve ,but with Southgate in charge I doubt it.

A sad day for Burnley to lose one of our greatest keepers for such a pitiful amount of money. Shame on Pace for selling him
And selling him so cheap.
I wish Nick all the best for the future with Newcastle.

Signed for about a million quid I think, and served us well for over 150 games, and we've sold him on for a good profit.
All the best Nick in your Newcastle career, and who knows you might yet break into the England side yet prior to the WC.

Nick Pope will always be a claret and I wish him well especially now he’s at a bigger club and may end up being Englands No 1 for the World Cup.

Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall for negotiations. I heard that Newcastle were the only club interested in him, but if that’s the case is it sentiment that has led us to accept a low bid for such a loyal servant? Surely if nobody was paying our valuation then we keep him for next year for the promotion push… unless of course it’s a combination of big wages and the need for funds to strengthen.

I guess that if Newcastle's was the only offer we had little choice but to accept, assuming that Nick was keen to leave.
On the plus side: we now get to blood a (hopefully)younger keeper who may need this season to develop adequately for our return to the PL..

Just like Ben Mee, absolutely gutted with this news.
All the very best, Nick, but I can’t stand that Saudi-owned club.

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
Why is the fee so low and particularly when it’s Newcastle ? Deserves to be playing PL football but I’ll want him and Newcastle to let in a shed load of goals going forward. Do not like what they represent.

I'm not one to defend the current regime, but I don't think they had many options when it came down to accepting the transfer fee.

Fantastic player for us - shame it’s only Newcastle but hope it puts him in the international spotlight more (though I doubt it).

Yes a nice tribute that Tony.
We have been very fortunate to have Pope, Mee and Tarkowski at Burnley, outstanding players and outstanding men, we can but wish them well. They go with our thanks.

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
Because Pope was fairly desperate to leave and Pace is definitely desperate for cash.
It’s an absolute insult.

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
Brilliant keeper for us.
Great ambassador and raised the club profile through his goalkeeping exploits.
Goes with my best wishes.
The price is what it is, he only had a year left I think on his contract with the option of another, but we've got what appears to be a good, solid keeper already here with a back up, so we aren't being left up a creek etc.
The money can go towards Kompany's transfer kitty and its helping to bring the wage bill down.

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
Shame he's gone to Saudi FC, but I don't blame him for wanting to stay in the PL. Would make no sense for him to stay in the Championship with a World Cup coming up, and at his age.
I also get why he would have gone to Saudi FC, he will be on some silly money I'd imagine.
All the best Nick.. a class servant to the club, our last 2 main keepers haven't been too shabby

Re: ARTICLE: Pope departs the Turf
We are always going to be a selling club but to allow Mee, Tarkowski and Pope, the heart of a very solid Premier League defence, to depart from a combined grand total of £10 million is beyond belief. That is at least £50 million that could have come into the club with smarter contract and transfer management.

It’ll be a strange opening game
When was the last time we had none of the trinity of Mee, Tarky or Pope in the starting lineup for a league game?
