Does that mean he’ll be giving up his seat on the board here? Surely you can’t own one club and be a director of another?

Remarkable. The absolute brass neck of the guy...and yet there are people on here who still think the sun shines from his posterior.
I wonder how much of the money we didn't spend on players when we needed to he has spent on this odd project?

And who are we to know what what said. Pace probably ticketed all the boxes. Only time is going to tell. But if Garlick had waited and waited. The Garlick haters would’ve been bursting blood vessels. Directors are a necessary evil in football but the way Garlick ended his time at Burnley, taking the money that our support earned him does leave a bitter taste.

Our current directors passed the Premier League's Owners and Directors Test. I assume the FL accept that, I wouldn't expect in any way that they'd have to go through it again.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:15 amDon't the FA have certain regulations on ownership?

Re: ARTICLE: Garlick buys a football club
Solely in my opinion, he appeared to hold back on transfers to increase the clubs coffers.
This in turn, would make it more appealing to a buyer and enable him to ask for higher price.
Therefore, in my opinion, he openly allowed the demise of our club to get 30 (more) pieces of silver for himself on the way out.
What happened to club funds for me after that is beside the point.

Re: ARTICLE: Garlick buys a football club
The Garlick apologists will always be here.
But they simply can't change the fact that much of the PL cash that the vast majority of clubs invest to enhance their end product was skilfully diverted into his own wallet.
Of course there was no queue for buyers....it was bang in the middle of covid ffs!!!
An established PL club with cash in hand would have attracted a credible buyer given an opportunity....to suggest otherwise is fatuous.

The PL fit & proper test is not a yard stick to measure anyone's suitability is it really? Let's face it, if you fail that test I'm sure the police will be wanting a word with you.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:27 amSorry, yes the PL test, which accepted that our current director met the necessary criteria.

Re: ARTICLE: Garlick buys a football club
I'm not sure that's how it works. Cash in the bank doesn't win football matches. Spend the cash on the right players and the team will win football matches. If the team is winning enough football matches in will stay in the Premier League and receive all the tv rights money. So, if Mike Garlick wanted to make the club attractive to sell the best strategy was to spend the cash on the right players. Of course, all this assumes that the right players were available for the money that Burnley could afford to pay. From what we saw, Sean Dyche had his views on the "right players" and Mike Garlick had other views. If Mike Garlick was all about building up cash reserves he may have, for example, insisted on selling Tarks a couple of seasons ago, maybe even Ben Mee before that when Ben was stalling on signing a new contract. Of course, we know that losing Ben Mee and Tarks wouldn't have made the club more attractive and made a buyer pay more money. Difficult thing to get these balances right...Notsosuperstevedavis wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:28 amSolely in my opinion, he appeared to hold back on transfers to increase the clubs coffers.

You think he held back on transfers, but there's proof out there he bought players over Dyche's head?Notsosuperstevedavis wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:28 amSolely in my opinion, he appeared to hold back on transfers to increase the clubs coffers.

The only mistake Garlick made, was not potting Dyche as soon as they fell out so bad, they weren't on speaking terms.
In truth, he has bent over backwards to allow these chancers the best way of making it work for Burnley. Delayed staged payments- probably the only thing we're not paying high interest on.

Love the thought that the fans support earned all the money. Should we all have been putting more into the transfer budget every window so that we could outbid some of the billionaire backed clubs and pay a few more million to sign our target?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 8:54 amDirectors are a necessary evil in football but the way Garlick ended his time at Burnley, taking the money that our support earned him does leave a bitter taste.
