Re: Rooney gone at Derby
I backed Rooney and Kompany to become our manager back in April. Unfortunately I put the bigger stake on Rooney

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Can't blame Rooney really can you, and there must be severe doubt over whether Derby even start the season.
I can see Rooney getting another gig sooner or later, as he did ok at Derby given the mess they're in.

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Cannot blame Rooney at all, but in fairness to Derby, maybe they could do with a bit of an experienced old head who has knowledge of League One right now anyway. Tony Mowbray?
Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Yeah sorry Tony, just had to be 1st in there.
Like Tiger says I'm sure Rooney will be in management soon enough, he did a decent job with 2 arms tied behind his back !.

Is this in the wake of the takeover?

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Strongly suspect Liam Rosenior will be promoted to manager as the cheapest option.
He's come across very, very well throughout his time at Derby, Rooney.

BBC reported earlier this afternoon that a Derby property developing has bought Pride Park and will submit a bid for Derby later today.

Derby need to be out of admin before they can sign anyone.AwayClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:02 pmWonder where that leaves Barsdley? Rumoured he was off there.
Maybe the new bidder will resolve the administration issues.
Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Rooney has done remarkably well for a novice manager, I think given the right club and avoiding the wrong clubs ie night and strip he could make a half decent manager.

I briefly saw a similar report on SSN earlier about the proposed takeover.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:03 pmBBC reported earlier this afternoon that a Derby property developing has bought Pride Park and will submit a bid for Derby later today.

I would have thought that Rooney's position would have been safe, but maybe he thought the opposite.

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
I wonder if the bidders wanted Rooney out before they submit their bid? Maybe the things that a new owner will need to do to make it work for Derby don't fit with Rooney's aims? I'm sure stories will come out in time.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:08 pmI briefly saw a similar report on SSN earlier about the proposed takeover.

Times on Line report on Rooney's departure from Derby.
Derby County: Wayne Rooney ‘wishes to be relieved of his duties as manager’

I wonder what has happened to MSD's loan of £24 million, which I think included security charge over Pride Park? The Times reports that Pride Park was bought by Cowes on June 17th (report has type and says July 17).

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Pride Park Stadium is owned by GelLaw Newco 202. MSD has registered charges on Gellaw Newco 202 and Gellaw Newco 204. Companies House shows Melvyn Morris as the director of both companies. Maybe the paperwork to show the change in ownership to Cowes is in progress.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 7:02 pmTimes on Line report on Rooney's departure from Derby.

The reports include Cowes providing new loans to Derby County. Be interesting to see how the MSD loan is handled if/when Derby come out of administration.

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Reports show the Cowes has put money into the club over the past year to help with running costs and finances have been provided by Cowes to ensure Derby have enough money for the next couple of months, enough to start the season, then with a takeover possibly happening he has the capital to run the club.
A strange time for Rooney to make the announcement, I would understand it a couple of weeks ago when the Kirchner deal fell through, but on a day when the news breaks that Pride Park has been bought and a local businessman and Derby fan can buy the club he walks away.
I have a feeling this is something to do with the administrators, he has complained in the past about lack of communication from them and if he has seen this news via Sky Sports or some other media outlet he might have decided enough is enough.

Heard from a good friend that’s connected at Derby that Rooney was paying for a hell of a lot out of his own money for the team, hotels, flights etc… he’s had his demons but he’s a top blokejedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 5:52 pmCannot blame Rooney at all, but in fairness to Derby, maybe they could do with a bit of an experienced old head who has knowledge of League One right now anyway. Did a far better job than expected, in circumstances far worse than expected. Deserves a lot of respect for that, and I'm sure it will stand him in good stead going forward.

100% they’re gutted
Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Can they not just wind up Derby and be done with it. Bury didn’t get the same treatment as Derby are receiving.

Seriously gone up in my estimation following the job he did there and for not jumping ship, which many would have done last year. Has potential to become a very good manager following this experience of managing Derby County

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Totally agree. Given the situation they were in I imagined they couldn't have anyone worse than Rooney. I think he's proved a lot of people wrong with the way he handled things.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 10:12 pmSeriously gone up in my estimation following the job he did there and for not jumping ship, which many would have done last year. I haven't read the article that wants you to sign up but it looks like Rooneys agent is in trouble for paying wages.
Might be linked to why he has quit?
Derby fans have worked out that Alan Nixon was was getting fed info by Stretford with what he wrote.

Re: Rooney gone at Derby
Agreed completely, I said months ago I'd have taken Rooney here, really impressive the way he handled himself publicly when he could have so easily lost his rag or jumped ship to Everton, a job he thought he wasn't ready to take.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 10:12 pmSeriously gone up in my estimation following the job he did there and for not jumping ship, which many would have done last year.
