I would say based on the three lads signing perhaps this:
Hennessey
Roberts, Collins, Ballard, Taylor
Cork, Brownhill
Costelloe, Twine, McNeil
Jay

Don’t understand the point of this thread given we have several weeks to make signings.

Cork will be imperious in the Championship playing just in front of four centre halves.

Given CM looks to be one of the key targets this summer I would suggest Cork isn’t going to play week in week out

Kompany apparently plays a 4-4-2, so I know this is unlikely, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it. I think we have (sorry, ‘will have’, if the rumours are true) the personnel, first choice striker apart.

Bloody hell I know you must be getting on a bit but it isn't that long ago since Defour left.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:11 pmHe makes us better but he's never made us tick.
I can't remember last when we had a player that made us tick.
I can remember a collective that made us tick though.

If you don't think Defour made us tick then we definitely do. That's the beauty of the game though I guess. A multitude of opinions with no right answers.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:42 pmMe and you have different definitions on what makes a team 'tick'.
It's the 'tock' that we're looking for, and have been for some time now.

BOT, surely you watched us when Dean Marney was playing? He was one of the largest unsung hero's of the past 20 years. Serious player,Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:11 pmHe makes us better but he's never made us tick.

Re: Our possible starting line up under Kompany
He plays 442, but when on attack he wants the LB and RB to push up and join in the attack and one of the defensive midfielders to drop back making a flat back 3, this goes from 442 to 352 in attack and back to 442 in defence, the lad from City Ballard will probably play DM because he can play CB or DM so he fits what Kompany wants from a teamjedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:42 pm————————————Hennessey

I'm not sure if Dwight will be here. Seems a few teams being linked don't know the strength of the links like.
Re: Our possible starting line up under Kompany
Dwight is a top player so will No doubt be sold

We all loved Marney, me included.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 1:08 amBOT, surely you watched us when Dean Marney was playing? He was one of the largest unsung hero's of the past 20 years. Serious player,
But I don't think he ever made us tick.
One of my favourite moments is when Marney tackled a player in our right back position after running back covering.
I can't remember who it was against but it was in the Longside/Jimmy Mc corner.
It was beautiful.

I agree, I remember the tackle though for life of me can't remember the opponent?? Marney is what you need to get put of the championship, along with some quality young ladsBin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 9:54 pmWe all loved Marney, me included.
