The only reason I clicked on the thread was to see if he was back and what "masterpiece" he had created this time.gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:06 pmIt's times like this I realise just how much I miss Pstotto.

Talking of Art stuff I went to the Van Gogh exhibition jobbie in Edinburgh yesterday - that was pretty good to be fair, if you like sitting on the floor. Then went next door to the Johnnie Walker Experience which was brilliant, popped into the Brewdog in between for some Elvis Juice, and some random Scots bloke offered a drink..I said I have one ear..

Mrs. cbx dragged me off to the Tate at Liverpool once and one of the exhibits was carrots rotting on the floor, another was a square canvas painted red. I couldn't believe the crap some people were saying about how good they were. I don't know who the artists were but I bet if I turned up with a bag of carrots they would have told me pee off.

There are some truly magnificent paintings in the World but equalled by some utter sh*te that looks like stuff produced by the 5 year olds in school.
The Tracey Emin type set are just a bunch of weirdo's who can waffle like Politicians and convince the equally gullible that they are looking at Art.

"The genius associated with modern art is not the art itself, but the act (the scam) of persuading some fool to pay a lot of money for it."
So said someone called Jim.

Oooooh, just look at that Andy Warhol and his silly hair, eh? And what's with all those bean and soup cans and Monroe prints, eh? It's disgusting that people buy such rubbish. I mean, just look at that weird band he backs - The Velcro Overgrounds or something. I've never heard such rubbish in all my life. I mean, nobody will remember them in five years time, and the same go for Silly Hair Andy and his oil cans... I hate the modern world.

Re: New submission to London’s Tate Modern Gallery
My wife and daughter once went round Tate Liverpool, totally unimpressed by the rubbish on display. Finally they spotted a blank canvas on the wall with a single rip running down the middle. That’s good, said my daughter, that rip is very realistic and shows some skill in painting. As they approached it they realised it was in fact just a rip in the canvas!!

Many years ago at the Liverpool Tate I saw an exhibit called 'light at 45 degrees.'
It was a fluorescent strip light attached to the wall at 45 degrees.
I haven't been back since.

Gawd there’s some miseries on here. Stick to your portraits and landscapes if that’s what you prefer but don’t dismiss the entirety of ‘modern art’ just because it’s not The Hay Wain.

Re: New submission to London’s Tate Modern Gallery
I’m just a bit baffled as to why someone would go to a modern art gallery if they don’t like modern art

Years ago an exhibit was on display in a gallery in London featuring used paint brushes, cleaner and other stuff used in painting.
Later the cleaners came in and mistakenly threw the stuff away.
When the 'artist' was told he said it was just great that the public would interact with his work in that way.

Whoa, hold on. That looks cold, so you’ve either halved it before heating the other half, which would seem like sacrilege. Or you’ve eaten the other half cold, which would be equally as barbaric. Although I’ve never had a Haffners meat and potato pie so maybe this is normal?
