Mike Riley stepping down as managing director of PGMOL this season so I presume it will be his final season

Re: Mike Riley to go
Might be going before the new season, it's not clear, but he's being replaced by a chief operating officer and a chief refereeing officer.

Sooner the better for me. He could not have taken the standard of refereeing any further back.

Re: Mike Riley to go
Chief Refereeing Officer of Northern Ireland, England and Scotland, or CRONIES for short, seems very apt in this particular field.

Seems your right

Its permanently installed, so games held at Turf Moor could have it, not sure who pays for it though.
I suppose it’ll be a baby version, like the one we used in the FA Cup that time, when there was all the kerfuffle over that penalty we won. I can’t remember who it was against…

Re: Mike Riley to go
That was the full VAR system we used in the FA Cup. This, if introduced, would be a cut down version without the offsides.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 2:01 pmSeems your right

Re: Mike Riley to go
It wasn’t as ‘full’ as what we used in the Premier League, I seem to remember it being quite basic compared to when we had it fully installed. My memory plays tricks now. I might be getting muddled up on when we started using it.
Anyway, I hope it doesn’t come to the Championship.

Re: Mike Riley to go
you can't have VAR in only a handful of grounds, it's either all or nothing

Re: Mike Riley to go
They do in the FA Cup. It doesn’t matter because it’s the same for both teams… so they say

It should be, but the cup competitions have had different rules, depending on whether the ground is var installed or not.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 3:44 pmyou can't have VAR in only a handful of grounds, it's either all or nothing
It's not right, but then again, if we didn't have var in the PL we'd have stopped up last season!

Re: Mike Riley to go
When we've played with VAR in games we have often got shafted by its use against us
Re: Mike Riley to go
The most recent story I read on that suggested it was possible for 23/24, not the upcoming season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 1:51 pmMight not yet - considering bringing VAR Light into the Championship
