Interesting comments on Pope along the lines of I knew that if we stayed up I’d be working with Nick and if we went down I wouldn’t, basically confirming that he has been set to be the new manager since before our fate was confirmed

"We want to push the players" such a refreshing change. Jeez I hope it works out for him because he sounds a really decent bloke.

Comes across incredibly well.
Has a long term vision and plan.

Understands the value of having a core of more experienced players to help younger ones grow and develop.

In some ways he's a younger version of Dyche with some of his views, BUT he's going to have a different style of football etc.

Full credit to Alan Pace for identifying and then securing such a top class leader and coach , together with everything else VK brings to the club at this time .

Another cracking interview.

Lots of talk about long term vision and process.

Makes you wonder if he knows more than the ‘it’s s*** or bust’ characters on here?

He'll know what he's been told.
Whether he's looked at the accounts and done his 'due diligence' is not known.
Either way he seems up for it and has bought into the chairman's plan.

He’s an intelligent man and there’s no way he’d leave his former job for a sinking ship in financial meltdown as some would want you to believe on here and can’t wait to publish it even though they’ve no idea of the repayment structure.

I was very sceptical of the leveraged take over, and still am but there’s more and more things that have happened in the last couple of weeks that are making me feel very positive.

Maybe Mr Pace does know what he’s doing, maybe he does know the way for BFC to survive is to buy potential, develop and maybe sell, maybe he has listened to the surveys of 1000’s of season ticket holders who didn’t renew, the most common reason was the lack of entertaining football. Although very early, I am seeing green shoots of very positive times ahead for our football club and I can’t wait to see how it develops.UTC

Vincent Kompany graduated with a MBA in 2017. There's an interesting short video on BBC 29 Dec 2017.

FT reported, Jan 24, 2018, that he studied for 5 years part-time at Manchester Business School.

The FT article has got a lot of interesting stuff in it about Burnley FC's new manager. I recommend everyone takes a look. I'd be surprised if Alan Pace hadn't read the FT article before considering Vincent Kompany as a candidate for Burnley manager.

I'd make a bold "guess" that Vincent Kompany has done his due diligence and not only taken a look at the accounts but also had a conversation with Alan Pace about the club's financial situation.

Dyche was really financially astute as well, I think his brother is a CEO of a blue chip company , I reckon they are very similar and if VK rang Dyche for advice he would willingly help out . VK though with his pedigree and style will hopefully have the pulling power that an ex Chesterfield player had not such is the modern mindset.

The main takeaway from all his interviews so far is that there’s no desperation to get promoted this season. It seems to be about rebuilding the squad.

Vincent has always been able to talk the talk
During his playing career he's also managed to walk the walk
Great profile to capture for a club like Burnley
He's certainly determined to make his managerial career a success
Let's hope the new incomings help to kickstart the campaign back to the PL

We will never know but deep down if VK was being honest I wonder if he prefers taking over after relegation rather than in the Prem?

He may thrive now but it may have been too much for a very young manager at that level. He seems very content with what he has inherited. This is about rebuilding the club. We can’t really rebuild while trying to stay up at the same time (albeit I think there will be three very poor teams in that league next season - Forest, Leeds and Brentford not getting to 30 with even Fulham and Bournemouth not getting 35 points I feel).

I'd be surprised if VK has put his own money into the club at this stage. It may be that Alan Pace has offered him a an investment in ALK/VS when the Clarets are promoted and doubles it when we qualify for Europe.

This what I mean by....

Exciting times.

Talks about a calmness towards the end of the video, a few on here could do well to listen to him!
I do like the way the club is heading towards on the pitch, there’s even a rumour now that we might not line up 4-4-2 every game. Talk about a breathe of fresh air.

It seems a good appointment in that VK seems very aligned with the culture Dyche has built in terms of attitude, work ethic etc - the culture and mentality that has brought us our success and that’s not being torn up. All that messaging & those foundations seem to be remaining in place just under a new style of play.

For all the new younger signings too he is appreciative of the older core of the starting 11 who have the mentality to push for promotion.

It all sounds sensible and level headed and that we have handpicked someone to fit into our club, not the other way around.

I have a very happy and positive feel about the future of our club, now we have a positive and forward looking manager in charge.
Dropping down into the championship may turn out to be a good thing eventually. A chance to rebuild,re evaluate and almost start anew.
Away from the pressures of trying to survive in a money loaded, cut throat, billionaire backed division. You have admit the last couple of seasons
has been a dire struggle,of on aged team, playing with just survival in mind,it has not been enjoyable.
Fans pay hard earned money to follow there beloved club home and away, and all they really want is to be entertained and players they love to watch.
Its an entertainment business but also we want to be able to say to all football minded people we are a small lancashire club but we are so proud to
be a claret,so beware we are now hopefully on the way back SO BE AFRAID WE WILL BE BACK [IN VINCENT WE TRUST]

We'd all love that, but there will be times we'll need to dig results out over the course of a long season. and that's where our resilience will be tested, any side which wins leagues or promotions has to find different ways to win games, as it won't always be possible to simply out football teams, we'll also need a strong spine to gain the points required over 46 games.

This is one thing I’m not so worried about, tiger. Whatever happens, I think we’ll start the season with the majority of the squad being from the Dyche era, and one thing we’ll have him to thank for is their engrained instinct to manage games & see out wins.

It's striking the fine balance between our experienced core group, well also integrating the newer younger players, plus also moulding them to Kompany's methods.

My main point was we won't be playing teams off the park every week, and often we will need to battle for wins, not least in the number of derby games we face.

I found this interesting
"Kompany’s final dissertation could also help businesses, he says. He examined the link between home form and the atmosphere in a stadium. He asked top players around Europe at which grounds they performed well as home players and which intimidated them as away players. The same venues came up time and again for a good atmosphere, including Dortmund, home to Europe’s tallest football terrace, and Celtic Park in Glasgow. He says these clubs had cheaper tickets and a close relationship with their city and the fans. Few were in the Premier League, he notes. Business could learn how to create a “fortress” in their institution that rallies people to a “common purpose”.

Absolutely, very much hope we don’t try to play every team off the park!

We’ll need to scrap and battle our way through lots of games and I think that’s what Kompany was alluding to when he said he wanted a squad that would fight for each other, which he seems to think he’s got!!

Loved this interview, very much feels like he gets the club already and you can sense from his introduction to Twine where he says “you’ve joined a great family”.

Only thing that slightly concerned me was his final statement that we could’ve made bets on players to get us straight back up, then he goes on to talk about the process taking a couple of years, etc. That’s an equally risky strategy as the parachute payments end. I very much hope as we come to the end of the window, we’re able to look seriously at adding one or two who “don’t belong” in the Championship - a statement, Orsic-type signing or a big loan - so we can properly compete for immediate promotion.

Hope so. It just felt like we were going for a strategy of purely younger players.

I often think games are won psychologically when the team sheets released, so I hope we either manage to hold on to some we’re expected to lose or are able to bring a few statement signings to replace them.

I hope I'm not being unrealistic but I want most of the other teams to regard us as one of the strongest teams and to an extent fear us. We obviously need to be patient given the extent of change, but I do think exporting that a good start will be crucial for us.

Sorry, my point was less about the time frame he mentioned and more about the recruitment strategy (I.e. that they’re swerving more experienced players and just going for potential/players we can sell on).

In my view this is a massive year where we have the advantage of holding one of the biggest budgets in the Championship and need to make it pay with a balance of one or two bigger names/loans too.

He seems like a really nice chap, and he certainly was one of the best defenders ever in the EPL.
Well done to Alan Pace for attracting this legend in PL history to manage us despite relegation.
I am really looking forward to the coming season

Sorry, my point was less about the time frame he mentioned and more about the recruitment strategy (I.e. that they’re swerving more experienced players and just going for potential/players we can sell on).

In my view this is a massive year where we have the advantage of holding one of the biggest budgets in the Championship and need to make it pay with a balance of one or two bigger names/loans too.
I'm just like how Vincent appears relaxed about the situations on a whole which is unusual for me 😃 I'm on one hand hoping we go straight back up but won't be ****** off if we don't because I understand that Vincent has still got a big job on his hands. The only thing I'm really hoping, it won't happen, is we keep McNeil, Cornet and Collins. The first 2 would be very lively at this level. If, and again we won't, we keep them I'd bank on us getting promoted at the first attempt. So a lot still depends on who else is leaving and who's staying.

IMO you can get the odd thing wrong in the championship whereas you can't in the Prem. But you need experience at cb and in cm (not exclusively both cb's or cm's) we've got it in cm but if Collins goes we may need someone with experience there. We've got it in the striking department though I'd like a new striker who can come in and start straight away. But that's just me. I'm just glad it's in Kompany's hands and not mine. 🤣
