No, my main point was that taking hand luggage was a good suggestion for many by the poster who made it, and it's not just about collecting your luggage at the other end which is what you suggested (there have been huge problems at bag drop which don't exist if you just have hand luggage).I don't think you understand hotel laundry services, which is fine because you won't need them taking hand luggage for 7-10 days.
Yes, I don’t understand hotel laundry services

It doesn't matter that you don't. The main lesson for you from the suggestion made is that it's doable to go on holiday with hand luggage. Consider it rather than dismiss it.

I couldn't agree more - wondered how far the most pedantic subject could go. Straight out of your book.

Why not just put name, contact number and email address on an external label?
Because an unscrupulous handler might tip off the burglars!

So, I presume that you wear about 4 sets of clothes again and again for 3 weeks?
Last trip was 4 weeks ago I took 3 pairs of trousers. 3 pairs shorts. 3 day t shirts. 2 day vest. 3 polo shirts and 3 t shirts for night.. 4 under crackers and 6 socks.
2prs trainers and 1 sliders. 2pr trunks.
Contact lenses, moisture and sun tan cream.

I don't wear shorts at night unless i travel in the tropics or mid summer months

Bought toiletries at the airport and topped up at the other end.

10 kilo case was packed to the rafters and the journey hassle free.

What are the burglars gonna do with a name, phone number and email address?

Try searching the Internet armed with those details snd see what you find. Area code will give you general location and the rest of the number could highlight which part of the town, just for starters. Then names in that area, social media references, email could throw up stuff.

Sounds a load of nonsense to be honest. But I was referring to mobile phone number - thought that would be obvious - why use your landline number when you're not at home? Nevertheless, I've just tried searching the internet with my details and it showed nothing.

Mine would show nothing, but some people live their lives on social media, pics of cars, houses, holidays, phone numbers etc etc... Some people would be very easy to find.

Each to their own but so many people do use such information. Travel websites recommend name, email address and mobile phone number. Suppose there'd be no harm in not including a name. Where do you get your taxi driver to pick you up from and what personal information do you withhold from your travel agent or travel insurance company?

I agree - I don't make it known on Facebook etc that I'm on holiday.

I take up the 20kg check in allowance so that I can take everything worth stealing on holiday with me. Saves worrying about burglars.

On our 1st visit to Turkey there was a group of Girls from Wales who came out with empty cases (well the minimum needed for a couple of days) they shopped in the local markets for clothes etc for the Hols over the next day or two. Said when they got home all the gear (mostly fake fashion labels) was laundered and then sold on Ebay at a profit paying for their holidays ... said they had been doing that for a couple of years @ 3 holidays a year, free Holidays 😉

We met a family of 4 from Hornchurch (spammers of course) they came out for 4 nights brought with them 8 cases 1 for themselves and the rest rammed with designer gear to sell on eBay.

Turkish designer counterfeit is the best in the world it's as good as the real McCoy. The shops out there have different prices for different quality and the top prices are still 75% cheaper than the originals and just the same quality, if not better in some cases.

Just spent 10 days away with hand luggage, travelling between hotels and apartments (with washing machine, just in case) no problem.

When I go away on golfing holidays, I take my older stuff, and wear them at the course, then bin them, saves packing on the return home :)
No wonder it’s taking so long for regular people to get through the airports if people are travelling with washing machines.
