One Drive help needed

Whenever I delete a photo or file from my pc I get a message that onedrive will delete it from all devices and it does. This is no good to me if I only want to delete from the one location.
Does anybody have a cure via settings?
I actually turned off all sections of one drive but found I got problems locating files, so turned them back on again. Fecking spying is what it is.
I now have to save one copy to separate HD before deleting. This is wearysome as I only plug the HD in to use, because of viruses.

Hmmm, not sure you fully understand what OneDrive is. It’s cloud storage where the “master” copy of your files is in the cloud, and the copies of files on your devices are synced copies. I suppose it depends on what you want to achieve though, if you want to free up space on your device there are options to clean up local copies - which delete the local files but keep the file in the cloud. If you right click the folder you should see the option to do that (can’t recall exact wording but it’s there)

You are correct I don’t understand it. Don’t like it either, as said above anything I need saving goes on the detached HD.
This is the message I get but if I click “got it” it does appear to delete all copies from my pc.

As has been said, one drive is cloud based and therefore the files are not stored on your devices. If you want the file on one device only, save it to that device.

Best thing to do with one drive is make sure you have the files you want outside one drive, i.e on your PC, then get rid of it. It's a total PITA.

I love pita bread. I don't know if this helps or not.
