Not a tennis fan, but sometimes watch a bit of Wimbledon when the big names are playing. I watched the Serena Williams game last night and thought Tan played very well.

Disappointed Kyrgios got through. I know he has mental problems, and feel for him, but don’t want to see it played out on my tv every match he plays.
For a similar reason I was pleased to see Serena go. Still chasing one more grand slam but age and injuries have caught up with her. You can’t just expect to only play grand slams and win them. The emotions shes goes through with every point is so OTT.
Otherwise Britain has had a decent start with more younger players coming through.

Why do players now do an Oscar speech after every match ?

Can anybody explain why Raducanu plays this shot so often? No other player plays it and she misses it or sets up her opponent for an easy winner.
She just got beat BTW.

I watched the first few games of the Raducanu match and it looked like she was going to lose it. What's her record like since she won the US Open? Every time I see her mentioned, she's been knocked out in early rounds.

What a gentleman Jaume Munar is. At a crucial point of his fifth set against Norrie, at 30-love up, Norrie hits a screamer cross court that is called out. Munar tells Norrie to challenge and it is overturned. Norrie went on to break and go 4-2 up.

What a tremendous match this has been and it still isn't finished. Both players have been giving it their all and some of the rallies have been outstanding.
I only stumbled on this because the cricket was rained off and so pleased that I did.

Norrie through in 5, but good to see gentlemanly conduct is still alive and well in the modern era.

Raducanu has been suffering from persistent injuries following her stunning US Open success, and she's barely played on grass recently, so TBH it's not a surprise she exited early.

Andy Murray should do the honourable thing and hang up his racket, at least Eoin Morgan knew it was time to retire, and let's be real Andy's never going to contend in the majors again.

He's enjoyed a stellar career, but now he's well past his best, and he should retire gracefully.

Apologies for the jesting, it’s not Up the Clarets messageboard during Wimbledon without the Scot/Brit argument :)

Andy has been a excellent player over the years, but his best days are long gone. That said, if he’s still enjoying playing, why not carry on

Murray played well but Isner (6’10” and 135 mph first serves) was really up for it and played some excellent tennis - especially drop shots close to the net. I enjoyed watching it.

Yes that was some result defeating the 6th seed, and coming from a set down to do it in the process.

Broady was superb, beating the number 12 seed. Lost 11 games in a row and was down and out and pulled it back.

Norrie 2 sets up, and looking good for round 4, so there will still be plenty of British interest in the 2nd week at this rate.

Imo two sets isn’t enough at this level.

The Ladies should play a minimum of three sets like the men. If the score then moves on to two sets all then they could play a tiebreak (instead of a fifth set) - first to twelve games wins.

Why not try it as an experiment? I’d be happy for them to call it ‘Mala’s Ladies Tournament’.

🙂

He might be a bellend yes....but he makes tennis watchable.....which is difficult these days with all the non personality bores that play that game nowadays
Fantastic match with two bellends playing we need more games like this, the officials & Wimbledon heirachy were left cringing last night they couldn't handle him
I hope he makes the final because when he puts his mind to it he's a great player.
