ARTICLE: Terry Pashley – October 2012

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:44 am

When the 2019/20 season was suspended, I started the new feature looking at all the past Burnley managers and the feature ended with Eddie Howe.

It now needs an update, and so today we have Terry Pashley who was in charge for three games following Howe's departure.

He probably still had hair then too :D :D

Didn't play many games for us but then went and played at Blackpool and Bury, playing over 200 league games for both of them. Top bloke too. I only met him when we started the fundraising. Somewhat quieter than the likes of Big Vince and Andy Farrell but a really good bloke.

When i worked at the Turf, Pash and Harry Wilson were the 2 who coached the youngsters, the likes of Weller, Brass, Smith etc. Pash seemed popular with the youth players and as you say a good bloke. Wilson was known as Harry the *******......

How could I forget Pash's debut match, an evening kick off v Blackpool. We were stuck in Palma airport with the plane delayed for over 4 hours. The cherry on top was a further delay at Manchester for over an hour waiting for baggage. Hence we missed the match but caught the second half on Sky.

Nice bloke pash. I remember having a really good chat with him at the clarets mad youth charity event at Rishton Golf club. We had a long chat about Cofe who he described as the best prospect he’d ever seen! Then Tony Yates scared us all to death!!! Happy days

About three years ago I went to Fleetwood v Walsall to tick off a new ground, and found myself sitting next to Terry Pashley in the stand. On the other side of him was Paul Cook.

Ross Wallace was playing for Fleetwood and Terry commented to me that although Ross was getting on a bit, he hadn't lost it.

Him and Andy Farrell relieved us of a couple of pounds that round :D

Was really good getting his take on things and hearing some of the stories about when he was a youngster starting out.
