Sad news. A real character and almost part of the furniture while following the Clarets. R.I.P Rocky. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!!!

The one memory of him I've got is we had travelled down to Millwall with Boundary clarets and after the game we was just passing Harrods and got stuck in traffic, he decided for no reason at all to do the full monty, he then pressed himself against the back window of the coach in full view of the shopper's, he was an absolute nutter and great bloke.

Some great stories here which totally resonate with me.

I didn't know Rocky but knew him all the same. That screech was something else.

RIP Rocky....a Claret legend of a different kind, that's for sure

Remember him getting nuts naked at Wycombe many years ago. Absolute head-the-ball. 🤣

Was chatting to him only a few weeks ago in the white lion, seemed very frail and not his boisterous self.

RIP Rocky.

My eardrums are still recovering from the battering they got standing near him on the alongside in the early 90s! The Turf will never be quite the same.

Just been told that he's trending on Twitter. :)

Thanks for lifting the gloom at Port Vale that time.

Peace be with you.
I’m trying to imagine his reaction to him trending on Twitter - it would probably have brought with it a barrage of bad language.

I doubt we will see the likes of him again.

Apparently, Rocky’s voice can be heard ringing out loud and clear from high on the hill outside Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium…

There is nothing I can add to some truly heart-warming memories.

We grew up with him. All of us. As an exile, I loved hearing his various shouts and cries on TV. Made you feel you were home. We've lost a claret but the world has lost a true character and we're all worse off for it.

I always remember being on the Longside, as a kid. I was doing the tip-toe shuffle in the toilets down the back while Rocky was doing his civic duty in clearing the crisp packets and debris blocking the drains! He wasn't fazed at all.

Tony nailed it with his description on the first page.

Never met Rocky, but as a Claret in the 90s, I remember very well his battle cry before goal kicks were taken and calls of Who Are Ya? A true Claret and will be missed. RIP Rocky.

You know one of those random memories that flashes through your mind from time to time and it makes you smile or laugh out loud well one of mine is of Rocky away at Palace absolutely losing it at the ref and me looking at the expressions on my then 8 and 11 year old boys faces who had never seen anything like it !! Got a wattsapp this morning from one now 32year old just saying “RIP Rocky”

Wouldn't it be a fitting tribute to Rocky if we all used this as our war cry at games?
Several thousand of us screaming in unison (hopefully at the same speed  ) would spur the team and if it's loud enough scare the sh1t out of the opposition.
If Rocky could make so much noise on his own we should be deafening.

What a guy. Been part of going to games for as long as I can remember.

I think the main thing I'll take from my brief meetings with him were on a match and in the heat of the moment he was as batty as ever but if you were lucky enough to catch him in his quiet moments (as few as they were) he was a lovely chap. He was on our bus travelling from the airport to Athens and there were a few fans chanting etc which, in the end, made the driver pull up threatening us with the police and that we'd all have to get off. I looked at Rocky and thought "here we go" ........ he just sat quietly away. I was very proud of him as I didn't want to get off and walk :D

A truly unique person and although I wouldn't have liked to have been stuck in a caravan with him for a fortnight  , nevertheless he was always very engaging when in his company. He could be a person of extremes and a couple of illustrations that spring to mind. I still have a vivid recollection of half a dozen stewards and police trying to pin him down at Prenton Park back in the day. I can also recall the uncontrollable emotion on his face when we beat Stockport in the 93/94 play offs. One of the true Clarets and he will be sadly missed. Rocky RIP.

Back when the 3.33 protest happened I was a trainee journalist. I had to collect soundbites for a radio voxpop by interviewing fans with an old uher machine. Most fans were happy to give one sentence answers. Rocky stopped and chatted with great passion for 20 minutes. I ran out of tape. When I reviewed the material in the editing suite pretty much everything Rocky had said was unsuitable for broadcast due to his industrial language. It remains the best interview I ever did and very few people ever heard it. Everyone in the editing suite was laughing throughout it.

I think that sums him up pretty well. He took the time to talk to me and spent most of that time swearing.

RIP Rocky.

Never forget him being thrown out at Northampton.
I was sat next to him that day, and also for the 6-2 at Wrexham.
I also recall him being 'detained' by the local plod for trying to climb out of Gay Meadow when we were 3-0 at half time.

Has anyone got a link to the You Tube video of the open top bus in Athens when it passes another bus with Rocky onboard? I have done a few searches and none of them bring up this clip.

When i got in from work yesterday, my 16 year old son who is born and bred down here said "have you seen that Rocky has died"? There can't be anyone who attends Burnley games who didn't "know" Rocky. My son said similar to yours, I see him or hear him at every Burnley game we go to. A few years back when we played Liverpool at home, I took him in the Spoons in town pre match to meet Beeky, as i knew it was likely the last time i would see him. We also got talking to Ash Hoskin who was sat on the next table after I showed my son the clip of "that" goal at Swansea. Also with us that day was my cousin's husband from Australia who hadn't been to England before and was no football fan. As we walked down to the ground, in his usual place on Harry Potts Way was Rocky, delivering his unique sales pitch to the passing fans. "get your hand in your pocket you tight b*****ds" is a line you will not hear on any sales training course, but worked for Rocky. My son knew Rocky from previous games so went along with him, the Aussie was somewhat bemused. And then startled when Rocky let rip with his cry usually reserved for opposition goal kicks. Is he always like that, he asked. Only with people that he likes, he is far worse if you are not a Burnley fan!

As many others have said, it will not be the same going to matches and not hearing his dulcet tones ringing around the ground.

Sad news - we have lost a massive part of BFC.

Although not a friend, like many he has been part of match day since I started watching the Clarets. As a kid in the 90's and 2000's he was sometimes more entertaining than the football. Rocky was friends with the people who took me so chatted a number of times and he was sound when calm 😁

Wycombe and Northampton will never be forgotten, personally I remember coaches journeys where he weight lifted me over his head and stuck me in the luggage compartments above the seat heads! Even as an aging man he was exceptionally strong. I also remember him wiping the sqaure sponsor of my quartered Adidas shirt in some sketch.

How weird will it be not saying 'orieght rocky' to him at far-flung corners of the country watching Burnley going forward.

RIP

Very sad news. My son mentioned it last night and being born and bred in the South East he has only ever seen him at matches both home and away, including the first season away at Pompey (home for us) where Rocky was threatening, yet again, to take off his clothes in the Good Companion Pub. But what really startled me was this morning my wife said "whose Rocky", to say I was surprised would be an understatement. She knows nothing about football and cares even less, you know the sort of thing...a bunch of silly men chasing a ball!!! Found out she had read the Alastair Campbell tweet. Rockys notoriety appears to be boundless.

I'm not into memorials etc on the big screen, ...however on thdc79th minute of our first home game a picture of him and just attack, attack, attack attack attack would be fitting and really be a fitting tribute to a legend.
