Richarlison
Richarlison’s controversial move to Tottenham has been completed.
The Brazil international has agreed a five-year deal to join the London club, after some fraught and apparently acrimonious negotiations with Everton over a deal that could rise to £60m.
An announcement is expected later this afternoon to confirm the signing following the forward’s medical, as the two clubs came to a compromise agreement following days of talks. The deal has already been confirmed with the Premier League - who effectively set a deadline of June 30 for Everton to comply with their profit and sustainability regulations relating to permitted debt over a three year period.
The Goodison club needed at least £50m in what amounted to a process of balancing their books for the current financial year, which ends on Thursday. The sale of one of their best players was realistically the only way they could bring funds into the club so swiftly
That's probably the end of our complaint

Spurs are putting a decent side together on the quiet. If they can sign a quality centre half they might not be too far behind City and Liverpool.

Sure Conte thinks he can control him and get the best out of him, but I have my doubts. Undoubtedly a quality footballer, but I’m far from sure he’s a team player, and certainly not a clubman.
This passion from the Pemier League teams to buy individual stars never seems to involved how it will effect team togetherness and spirit; until they look at the bigger picture, none will measure well against Liverpool or City.

Spurs could have had a free cb, the best in the Premier but he went to relegation candidates Everton instead.

He was one of the only players fighting Everton had last season, proper dug them out of the mess. Not sure how he wasn't a team player or a club man.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 4:15 pmSure Conte thinks he can control him and get the best out of him, but I have my doubts. Don't rate him. He'll go into a massive sulk and sit on the bench all season.

Fair play to Everton selling their best player to get their house in order and ensure they are compliant with the rules. As per usual this messageboards pitchfork wielding conspiracy theorists have egg on their faces yet again

Gave his absolute everything and scored crucial goals to keep Everton in the PL, there's a reason the Everton fans like him because he worked his arse off for the team but he's not a team player or clubman?elwaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 5:48 pmSee Doug’s post immediately above, pretty much nails my view of the player.

Re: Richarlison
Have several Toffee fans for mates and not one of them is saddened he’s gone, neither has there been any comments coming through my Twitter account, and I normally get something in general chatter about most moves. Yes he was like a one man steam roller towards the end of the season. But I think that was more to do with getting the move he wanted at the season’s end than any desperation to help Everton.

Re: Richarlison
Oh they are fare from happy. But despite staying up they have a lot to be unhappy about right now. There is a very real possibility that us losing out to them will only make next season even more embarrassing for the fans. In the middle of another possibly protracted takeover. I’d be interested to hear Kenwright’s views, but I don’t think he has any real power there now, anyway. They are right to be ‘not happy.’Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 6:40 pmI only know 1 Everton fan and he's not happy, but he's an Everton fan so never is

Or, perhaps Burnley and Leeds’ reminder to stick to the rules focussed minds at Everton.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 5:50 pmFair play to Everton selling their best player to get their house in order and ensure they are compliant with the rules. Re: Richarlison
Does that mean that now the financial year’s ended and they’ve balanced the books for that year, they can go on a spending spree of sorts, as long as they settle up by the end of the next financial year?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:46 pmRicharlison’s controversial move to Tottenham has been completed.

Re: Richarlison
Wasn’t the “complaint” from our perspective both that Richarlison should have been banned for the flare and missed games, and also Everton’s spending LAST season should have led to an embargo this season? A potential third thing could be arguably that series of Covid postponement injustices but that is unrelated. I may be wrong but that is what I thought.
So I don’t see how Everton selling him now affects our grievances.

Re: Richarlison
£50m plus add ons for a player who in my opinion keels over every time someone looks at him, likes to shoulder charge payers in the back when he thinks the officials aren't looking when tracking back from offside positions, kicks out at players when he can and doesn't often pass the ball to colleagues when he wants to do it all himself. I can't see Kane and Son seeing so much of the ball with him in the team. At least of the three will be gone at the end of the season when Spurs European dreams have disappeared and they don't finish in the top 4 this season. £50m + for me is wasted money.

Re: Richarlison
This is what Matt Slater had to say earlier today on the finances of Everton in the Athletic, all comes down to averaging losses over the 2019/20 and 2020/21 season and that ridiculous level of monies allocated to adverse transfer market conditions, this is a club that paid just £100k more than us in the TV rebate which came as a result of them appearing on TV quite a bit more than us - in 2019/20 (we finished above them and they earned more) - archive copy so no paywall

Re: Richarlison
On the radio today, Simon Jordan was talking about how Everton will be making £40-50 million "profit" due to Rucharlison's book value now being £10 million and that helps Everton to balance the books.
Just shows how absurd football finances will appear to the average person.

Re: Richarlison
I recall people saying the same about Grealish, but he has quickly adapted to not being the main (only) good player in the team's squad and I expect Richarlison will adapt pretty quickly too. He used feed Calvert-Lewin a lot when he was fit!LaLigaClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 10:47 pm£50m plus add ons for a player who in my opinion keels over every time someone looks at him, likes to shoulder charge payers in the back when he thinks the officials aren't looking when tracking back from offside positions, kicks out at players when he can and doesn't often pass the ball to colleagues when he wants to do it all himself. Re: Richarlison
I'm not sure if this is a good signing for Spurs.
He's a good player in general in terms of the Premier League and was very important to Everton but is he of the level that Spurs need - to propel them into League contenders?
I'm not sure but time will tell.

I work with loads and the vast majority would have driven him to spurs if asked, rotten apple as far as most of them are concerned.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 6:40 pmI only know 1 Everton fan and he's not happy, but he's an Everton fan so never is

I think Lampard will be pleased to be rid of him. Yes, his goals helped keep them in the division, but I hear on the grapevine that he does not make for a happy dressing room.

They won't miss him as they still have last years "young cheat of the season" award winner in Gordon.
And we won't miss either of them because we are not playing Everton or spurs next year. So I don't really give one. Admittedly, the Richarlison v conte inevitable showdown is something to look forward to as a bystander.
