Re: How old is too old to use an emoji?
How old is old enough to be able to say I don't understand most emojis?
I get = big smile = happy;
I get = wink (but not in parliament);
I get = sad.
The rest, I haven't got a clue. Thinking about it, there's probably an emoji that means "I haven't got a clue."
No worries. (Is there an emoji = "no worries")?

Originally an inventive way of spreading computer viruses, now safely taken over by those unable to use words to convey their feelings effectively

This one is really funny because it’s faeces which has been personified with big cute eyes and a beaming smile. You get the impression that he/she is a really fun-loving piece of excrement.

Re: How old is too old to use an emoji?
I’m 100 percent certain that people who use emojis are under the age of 16 and they struggle to communicate properly with other people, so they use them as a way to try and achieve their aims. Adults do not need to do this. Take for instance some users on this board who use them. One user comes across as a bully. A few posters on here have commented on that. He/she uses emojis as a way of trying to justify his bullying tactics and he uses them to mitigate his bullying by adding a bit of humour to his post. At the end of the day it’s still bullying just because they decide to put a childish photo at the end of their comments. I appreciate he/she is a youth and will hopefully grow out of it but it is a worrying trait.

My mothers in her seventies and usually finished any message with LOL which I found a bit strange,and when she then commented on someone’s relative dying by saying “so sorry LOL” I had to pull her up on it,and she was horrified when she was told it meant laugh out loud and NOT Lots of love.

"I haven't got a clue." = a question mark, or 2 question marks.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 7:35 pmHow old is old enough to be able to say I don't understand most emojis?

No worries = thumbs up.

Lots of love is so much nicer.Tinribs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:21 amMy mothers in her seventies and usually finished any message with LOL which I found a bit strange,and when she then commented on someone’s relative dying by saying “so sorry LOL” I had to pull her up on it,and she was horrified when she was told it meant laugh out loud and NOT Lots of love.
It's given me an idea. Maybe emojis need to be approved by the senior generation before they can become official.
